Posted June 14, 201113 yr Apparently Hiddink is bringing this guy with him next week, says the Mirror here. They've provided a video that they found on YouTube to go with the article. Interesting that they reckon Bosingwa is going to Galatasary as part of the deal. "And Hiddink is ready to sanction an immediate swoop for Turan as part of an £18m-rated player plus cash deal that will see unwanted Portuguese right-back Jose Bosingwa finally finish his injury-blighted stay in the Premier League." I know nothing about this lad but there is reference to him being flattered by comparisons to Messi in his Wiki entry.
June 15, 201113 yr I must confess that I haven't seen him play (not that I know anyway). I think he's good in FM, but that doesn't mean much. But, I've heard his name before and those who speak of him seem to think very highly of him.
June 15, 201113 yr Somehow, I feel this is more than just a rumor. I remember reading about Turan linked to us a few weeks ago. Also, Ian McGarry today said with Santos asking too much for Neymar we're now looking at a certain left sided attacker whose name he's at no liberty to mention, and if we manage to pull it off it'll be a shock. Now, he may be talking bollox, and maybe he means somebody else, but here you go.
June 15, 201113 yr Good target. Repeats some of the talk in the Turkish papers last week. Would go someway towards fixing our creativity problem. Plays on both flanks and behind the striker. For any of those who watched Belgium v Turkey last week he had a neat little assist from the right hand side for Turkey's equaliser. But given Galatasaray are in crisis I'd hardly see them selling their best player.
June 15, 201113 yr Liverpool and Chelsea were linked with him when he burst on the scene at Euro 2008. Very good winger and a big surprise he hasn't moved outside Turkey sooner. Not lightning quick but has a great cross and shot on him.
June 15, 201113 yr Author Despite knowing nothing of him, from what I've learnt in the last half hour I'd possibly rather sign him than Neymar. I figure he'll be keen to prove himself outside of Turkey and will be hungry for sucess. Whereas, as good as Neymar looks I can't help but feel that it would end in failure if he came here. That's nothing against Chelsea, more that South Americans haven't generally faired well in England, especially the flair players. Inconsistent performances followed by homesickness isn't exactly unusual. Plus the reported price is much more reasonable than those reported for Neymar, Sanchez etc.
June 15, 201113 yr He is more technical than pace based. In my opinion someone like Turan and perhaps Jefferson Farfan or Renato Augusto could go a long way to solving our wing issue for less than Sanchez or Neymar would cost as individuals.

Roman's got deep pockets and is shady enough to get out of FFP - why not sign both? We'll have Turan and Neymar on the wings, swapping sides to keep people guessing - could be pretty devastating.

June 15, 201113 yr Duff and Robben mark 2? That's exactly what I was thinking. If we could somehow manage to pull that off, I'd count that as a very successful summer :P
June 15, 201113 yr I've not seen anything of this player at all. But people seem to rate him and he seems pretty low profile (thus cheaper) and could be the hidden gem a lot of people are asking for. Will do some research now!
June 15, 201113 yr I read he is a playmaker, not very quick and the standard of the league he plays in is sh*t! Could be a gem but asking price is 20mill euro still a lot imho
June 15, 201113 yr I know it's difficult to judge how good a player is from looking at YouTube videos, but if you try to stay clear of the compilations and just watch the ones that show a player's performance in a given match, then you can get a bit of an idea. Here are a few to be getting on with: Vs Manisaspor Vs Kayserispor http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PL893y8d3ug&feature=related Vs Czech Republic This last one isn't actually focussed on him specifically, but it does show him against a team with somewhat better defenders and you can see he delivers a few good crosses here - Vs Atletico Madrid http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MsFNmNo-tGw It's also worth bearing in mind these quotes from his wikipedia page: "Other teams have offered me really big money but my love for Galatasaray is real." and "As I always mention, Liverpool attracts me because of their tradition. In Europe, I am a Liverpool supporter, so if I go to play in Europe, I would like to play for them."
June 15, 201113 yr i dont really rate him if i am honhest, has no pace to be a winger imho I think he looks reasonably good. Would rather have Neymar if it's possible, but I think I'd rather this guy than Ashley Young, for example, who by all accounts is going to cost United a similar amount. If Hiddink has seen this guy up close during his period as Turkey manager and thinks that he has what it takes to do well in the Premiership, then that's good enough to me.

Mate I would definatly have young over this guy.
June 15, 201113 yr Mate I would definatly have young over this guy. *shrug* Each to his own, I guess, but I've not really seen anything in Young that makes me think he's good enough to be anywhere better than he is now...
June 15, 201113 yr Mate I would definatly have young over this guy. I wouldn't. Turan is a star and a captain of Turkey's biggest club, at 24 he's already had 44 appearances for the national team and has scored 11 goals. He is actually highly rated in Europe and the reason his name isn't as common when it comes to transfer rumors has got more to do with his status at his hometown club rather than him not being good enough for a better team. I have nothing against Ashley Young but I don't think he's consistent enough to break into a starting lineup in any major club. I'm not entirely sure why ManU went after him, because imo both Nani and Valencia are superior wingers.
June 15, 201113 yr He reminds me alot of Sergio Aguerro powerful, pacy, tricky, looks to pass quickly ...guus bring him on
June 16, 201113 yr *shrug* Each to his own, I guess, but I've not really seen anything in Young that makes me think he's good enough to be anywhere better than he is now... I'm with you on this. Young is a player that could do well in a fast, counter attack based team like ManU. Turan looks a classy player, just what we need.
June 16, 201113 yr He reminds me alot of Sergio Aguerro powerful, pacy, tricky, looks to pass quickly ...guus bring him on He really isn't pacey
June 16, 201113 yr Taken a look at him now, seems a creative and solid player. He's one of those who can make fools out of defenders and has no problem holding the ball and drawing 3 or so people into tackling him which opens up huge gaps before unleashing the final pass. Seems he can shoot and cross as well. I haven't watched him anywhere near as much as I've seen Neymar for instance so can't make an informed decision, but Guus would have had as much experience with him as you could hope for so if he likes him I'm on board. If we could steal him for a low fee and he turns out to be as capable as he seems to be on a regular basis, it'd be a steal of a signing.
June 16, 201113 yr Not sure about this but I think he's on pretty big wages, which wouldn't be a big surprise given his status at the club.
