June 20, 201113 yr Every word I read on this story makes me think that Tottenham are haggling like a Morrocan souk vendor. I'd love to see Roman tell them that whatever Chelsea offer for a player is always way above normal market values and if they can get a better deal elsewhere thank them for their time and leave. Bearing in mind that Modric has already stated his desire to stay in London and play in the European Cup, and we all know that Arsenal's not an option, then it becomes pretty clear that he's coming to Chelsea. Now I'm no businessman but doesn't that put Roman at an advantage in a buyers market
June 20, 201113 yr No case to answer for Chelsea. It's a loophole in the law but the laws only govern direct contact with the player. Clubs have long used international team-mates/friends etc. to influence other players to join them, this indirect 'tapping up' is no different.

Then Modric himself said something, and so far I've heard nothing from Chelsea. In Fact, all I've heard is twitchy going on about how "there are people being sold for $20 million who ain't fit to lace Luka's boots!"
