Posted January 2, 201213 yr It's probably rubbish, as Beck's and Lampard were seen hanging out together and the Sun are hardly reputable. And they take the usual dig at AVB. However, they also say that Real Madrid are interested? Question; if this does have any credibility, I think a move to the MLS would be decent for Frank. I'd rather see him wind down out there than struggle here and leave a poor impression to some fans who forget all the great things he's ever done for CFC. http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport/football/4029832/Chelsea-transfer-shock-David-Beckham-tells-Frank-Lampard-to-join-LA-Galaxy.html
January 2, 201213 yr Will be very sad but I think next season yes, but still much better option than Meireles if your looking to be positive in a game. Would love to see him come back to the club in some capacity in the future, he's one of my all time favs.
January 2, 201213 yr As a Galaxy fan, I'd love this. A.) it helps LA's attacking options immensely, and B.) it gives Frank a few more years to shine as a top performer for a club instead of a bench player.
January 2, 201213 yr Have to say it would be a good option for the player....Especially if he is not content to play a bit part. Playing in that league Frank could go on to play another 5 or 6 years.
January 2, 201213 yr I think 5 or 6 years is pushing it. The MLS obviously lacks the skill and tactics of the Premier League, but it's very physical. And surprisingly fast. Frank would need to learn to play a little more like Beckham -- long balls setting up teammates. He simply doesn't have the legs to run with all the kids in the MLS.
January 2, 201213 yr Wouldn't like to see lamps being shipped out think we should hold him like utd did with the shcoles
January 3, 201213 yr Not sure Frankie wants to leave Chelsea just yet. Also, not sure he's the kind of star player who will draw a crowd in Los Angeles. His game isn't very flashy. He does score, though.

He does score, though. He won't draw like Beckham, but people here were plenty excited about Keane coming, and Frank's a bigger deal than him.
January 3, 201213 yr I'd be very surprised if he did go there, he's just got engaged to Christine Beakley and I would imagine she's got TV comitments in the UK, its hardly an hours drive away is it!
January 3, 201213 yr It would be a fantastic deal for Chelsea, ok for Frank, and decent for LA. Chelsea could move forward with the youth movement and give youngsters like Romeu and perhaps even McEachran (perish the thought!) the playing time they need to develop. It would be ok for Frank becuase he would likely get more minutes, but I am not sure he is the right kind of player for MLS. He is not a runner and will need to adjust his game. It is decent for the Galaxy. They get a solid player but maybe they can get some publicity and maybe it will get Chelsea to play the Galaxy in a road friendly. The problem with the MLS is that most American soccer fans don't care about it. The proof is in the ratings. A TAPED (not live, taped) broadcast of the Chelsea-Liverpool match that aired at 2 in the afternoon pulled a TV rating almost twice the viewership of the LIVE MLS championship game that started at 9pm. American soccer fans care about the EPL, Champions League, etc.
January 3, 201213 yr Wouldn't like to see lamps being shipped out think we should hold him like utd did with the shcoles Despite what the press would have you believe, he is the archetype of the veteran player you want around the youngsters, like Scholes and Giggs were/are at Utd. Hard working, sensible, and well liked. I just dont know if Frank wants to spend the next few years in this state where he feels he has more to give, but remains getting every other start. I always believed when the time came for him to pack it in at Chelsea, he would move to a French or Italian club for the final few years of his top level career.

American soccer fans care about the EPL, Champions League, etc. Which is exactly why the MLS needs to continue bringing in guys like Henry, Beckham, Keane, possibly Lampard, etc. If they have the opportunity to watch -- live or on TV -- European stars that they recognize, they're more likely to do so than they were before.
January 3, 201213 yr The day Frank leaves Chelsea will be a sad day indeed, and a day we say goodbye and thankyou to a club legend. I know that word is thrown around far too easily no but in my opinion Frank Lampard is a true Chelsea legend. But, this could be a nice out for him and the club. I think its fair to say Frank is no longer an automatic choice in the team, and I think this will be detrimental to him as he does get better and better the more he plays. So maybe a trip to the good old US of A would work out well for all parties.
January 3, 201213 yr I hope he stays, but if he leaves, I'd love for him to come to the MLS. I would definitely have to schedule a trip to KC and see if I can get my Chelsea kit signed by him!
January 3, 201213 yr If it were me (money aside), I'd rather have a crack at winning the N Power Championship, than going to LA Galaxy.
January 3, 201213 yr Sounds like Beckham's about to sign a 1-year deal with the Galaxy. So Frankie stays put.
January 4, 201213 yr Sounds like Beckham's about to sign a 1-year deal with the Galaxy. So Frankie stays put. I assume you mean the "maximum of 3 designated players per team" rule? I read an article the other day saying that if Lampard wanted to come to LA, they could find a way around the DP rule. I'm not sure if there's a specific loophole, or if this source was just assuming the MLS would pull strings, change its rules, etc. to allow another player of Frankie's caliber to come aboard. And I think they would. Lampard is a worldwide star, and LA is the MLS's prized team. They'd find a way to make the marriage happen, if it came to that. Realistically, I think the reason it won't happen is because Frank won't want to (at least not now). I'm sure he wants to prove he's still got it at the Premier League level, and his wife-to-be is likely to just pick up and head west given her TV commitments.
January 4, 201213 yr I dont think he'll go anywhere in January, maybe at the end of the season if he sees more midfielders coming in he might decide to look elsewhere and i think his uncle Harry will be happy to take him. Hes been a fantasic player for us over the years, scoring so many goals from midfield is incredible, just a shame that hes getting old, still think that on his day hes a terrific player but those days seem to be getting less and less. He'll always be a Chelsea Legend!
January 4, 201213 yr I assume you mean the "maximum of 3 designated players per team" rule? No, I just meant that LA wouldn't want him if they got Beckham.
