With Joe Cole out possibly for the rest of the season and Arjen Robben injury prone this season we are left with only Kalou and SWP as options on the wing realistically. If SWP leaves in this transfer window as some have suggested we may need to consider signing another winger. Of course we may have some options from the academy but if we are looking to sign a player with premiership experience what about Ashley Young of Watford? I've been impressed when I've seen him play this season and he is a young player so would perhaps be a good swap for SWP from our squad's point of view.

Bids are reported to have come in for Young that Watford have rejected (no word on who from other than at least one from a Premiership club) - the bids are said to be in the region of ?5m. Personally I am not so sure if he would be a good buy although in fairness I don't think I have seen enough of him to judge properly.

If we were to target a winger then I think Jose is more likely to look abroad and that doesn't bother me so much as I think winger is a position where there is less of an issue of taking time to accustomise to a new league.
