Posted May 29, 201212 yr First of all, massivly excited about the fact we have signed Hazard. Shows very posotive ambition to remain in the Europes ellite, somthing that some of us feard may no longer be the case. Although not as excited anout hulk again it shows the clubs direction and ambition and both are potential supper starts. The added bonus that the deals seem to be done quikly with out the aug 31st clammer we have been subjected to in he past. All that said the sentimental in me can’t help but think about where this leaves some our promsesing youngsters. Sturridge – I think he gets a hard time on here, I have head arrogant, selfish, and that he wants to play up frount. I can probably point to the bad body language of torres and drogba through out the season as comparison and I would also ask what suggests he’s arrogant (I actually think it’s an excellent quality by the way) Regardless of all the above, a brilliant talent, so often this season has been out spark on some very dark days. Has skill, speed and an eye for goal. IMO will now be utilised up front in rotation with torres and I fully expect him to out score torres. At 23 I believe we should be seriously considering him as a starter. Has worked hard on his right foot as well which to me suggest humility. An obnoxiously arrogant player would say there left was enough. Josh Oh where did it all go wrong, He would have been in my team last season and featured. The kid is slight of frame but is one of the most natural young talents I have ever seen, every time I see him play (unfortunately not enough) the game seems effortless for him.. Maybe that’s half his problem… with Hazzard, Marin and Matta now acquired it doesn’t look good. Time is on his side but I can see Josh going the way of what could have been’s. Lucas Piazzon Only seen him play for the youth team. But has so much time on the ball (Self-created) and seems a pretty skilled player. Has time on his side, just hope he doesn’t get inpatient. Gael Kakuta Gone – unfortunately.
May 29, 201212 yr I am truly pissed at Rodgers and Swansea for their treatment of Josh. There is no way the club would have sent him there if he wasn`t promised playing-time in the first place and then Rodgers proceeds to drop him completely. Still have high hopes for the lad though. Hard to forget his debut against Newcastle and hopefully he could get some time next season. Kakuta is gone, and Piazon got more time than Josh.

Gael Kakuta Gone – unfortunately. I would seriously keep Josh and Lucas as backup squad players next year. Mata and Hazard will not be playing every game and for me these are similar types of players who will slot straight into the system we will be Using. If we loan these out and we get injuries we may not be able to substain the football Roman wants with other players.
May 29, 201212 yr McEachran still has time. He needs to be loaned out more intelligently to sides that will give him confidence. Swansea looked like a decent loan but they had a side that was totally gelled together. Its difficult for a new player to fit in in that scenario. Piazon needs another year of development in the youth/reserves. I'd then loan him out for a season and bring him back in if he looks up to it. If not then give him another year on loan. Our current system, with the right players, suits him perfectly in my opinion I'd be surprised if Kakuta wants to stay even if we want to keep him. Either we sell him or loan him out again. Sturridge will be used as back up winger, but mostly as the person to fill in up front when Torres isn't playing. He'll probably end up playing less than he did this year, but more in the position that he wants to be.
May 29, 201212 yr I think you are underestimating just how many games we are going to be playing next season. We are in a total of 7 competitions, two finals at around August (only takes an injury here for Sturridge to be back into the first team) and the Club World Cup at the worst possible time ever where we will definitely need backup/rotiation/youngsters. I personally think everyone would get played often under normal circumstances, the new manager however may not want to rotate often/use youngsters/etc so in that instance yeah it would suck. He was played out of a starting place by Allen and most of all by Gylfi Sigurdson. I don't in any way think that it's Rodgers' fault and I don't think it's Josh's fault either, he's just a victim of circumstance. Also, Rodgers got slated by Swansea fans for signing Josh on loan for as much money as he paid. If the other players didn't perform better than Josh, no doubt Rodgers would have been delighted to play him more. I think he needs a loan again before we can bring him back. We have a lot of option in midfield next year (even without signing Hulk) so his chances are going to be limited until he proves himself and he can't do that without chances. It'll be a vicious cycle for him here and so we have to see where he can get game time. I would personally love to see him go to Spain, I think the game over there is perfect for his style and development. A newly promoted side there would be ideal, or even going for La Liga Adelante or whatever their second tier is called. A championship side could also work. He has time, but he needs to spend a greater chunk of it on the pitch. Anyway, Sturridge will be the back up to Torres and the wide right position next season as I suspect Lukaku will go on loan for a season to mature. Sturridge is going to fight hard for that place and if he deserves it, he'll get it. I have no fears about Sturridge getting chances and it's just a matter of how he performs and how hard he works in training. If he's properly motivated to work for a starting place, it gives us a great way to change the game from the bench and the competition for Torres and whoever is on the right ahead of him will keep everyone on their toes. Piazon is not yet ready for me and much like Josh I'd suggest a loan is a good idea for him, although he is far more suited than Josh to the number 10 position which makes him a good candidate to be a backup. Great for the future, but I think a year on loan will be ideal. Kakuta has had a few chances and failed to make the grade with us, really. It's a pity but sometimes you just have to accept it and move him on so that he can further his career.
May 29, 201212 yr At 22, I'm sure many people doubted Ryan Bertrand would've had a long-term Chelsea future, and yet he started the Champions League final.
May 29, 201212 yr On Sturridge - I think he has talent, he dug us out of so many holes. The trouble is he is so greedy, so greedy! If he didn't try ridiculous shots and looked to pass the ball he would probably be in the team more. At this moment in time he is definitely no more than a sub. Hopefully Piazon gets a chance soon, he looks sharp and could be a great sub this year. As for Josh, its anyones guess :(
May 29, 201212 yr In my opinion Sturridge is wasted as a winger. He's a striker. And if we're playing 4-5-1 next season he'll have to fight Torres and Lukaku for a place in the team. Josh doesn't really seem to get a chance no matter where he is. And it's not like he's been crap when he's played. In fact, I'd say that he's been rather solid. So why can't he get a chance? We've played Malouda and I think even Kalou and Anelka ahead of him. Doesn't seem right. We all see him as our bright gem, but maybe we're wrong. I can't believe 2-3 Chelsea managers and the managers who has had him on loan can all be wrong. But he is still young (younger than I thought) so maybe this will be his season. But seeing as we've got so many great players at midfield I think he will have to go on loan. Let's just pray he'll get to play there. Piazon is only 18. Send him on loan. Kakuta. Not sure what to think of him. Haven't followed him much lately. Get the feeling that he's not perhaps as good as we once thought. Guess Marin and De Bruyne are considered bigger talents than Kakuta, so maybe another loan?
May 29, 201212 yr I have a feeling that Piazon would struggle to get into a team above top half of the championship. Not because he doesnt have raw talent but because he play in a position where teams dont really like to take a risk on paying a youth player.
May 29, 201212 yr Ryan and Josh are certain chelsea boys for many years (hopefully)...I think for young chaps theyre exciting
