Why must Yossi go?

Featured Replies

I have mentioned this in one or two threads already but why is everyone so set on Yossi leaving? Everytime a thread comes up about who should come and who should go Yossi makes it onto everyone's list.

He is exactly the type of player that we need in our squad this season, we will be playing with two wingers and a man sitting behind the striker. Yossi can play in all three of these positions, he is experienced, versatile and a very handy player. Not to mention he dosen't seem to mind sitting on the bench without complaining which is more than we can say about a lot of players in our squad over the last few seasons (looking at you flo).

We have a hugely congested fixture list this season with the European Super Cup and CWC to go along with the usual PL, CC, Fa cup and CL campaigns. If we got one or two injuries to the likes of mata, marin or Hazard we might well find ourselves very grateful to have him in our squad.

Yes we sent him out on loan last season, and to Arsenal no less but I would imagine that was AVB's call that he did not find him needed and we all know how his reign ended up...

Yossi still has something to offer Chelsea and I for one really hope he stays!!

I'm not against Yossi staying at all. Out of all out creative players, I think he has the best shot at gelling with Nando from day one next season.

I think the acceptance that he's gone is due to the minimal games he's played, and the loan last year (although I did hear that aws because of international player limits?).

I think Cundy said before the BHA game we have 14 midfielders in the squad right now...lot of players are on their way out. I've never felt Yossi is our man..for anything but I don't mind if he is backup. Don't see it though.

The way he celebrated for arsenal last year means he should have been first out the door. Good player for west ham, Liverpool, arsenal. But has done sweet f.a. for us apart from creaming over 1 of our closest rivals.

He was invested emotionally with the team that he was training day in day out with. Sure it wasnt great to celebrate but hardly a legit reason to show him the door. His first season at the club he was injured the majority of the time so never got a chance then he got shipped out the next season.

We have a lot better players than him that should be getting the squad place. Marin is younger and possibly already a better player. Also i would think that some smaller teams would want him so we could get a fee for him.

If a player left us turn went on to kiss a rivals badge ala poyet, I think thats out of order. To celebrate against us the way he did was just disguting, add to fact hes an ex dipper and spammer, and has done nothing to warrant staying in the squad at the expense of essien, meireles, or a youngster. I really cant see why anyone would want to keep him.

He's too old and simply not good enough. We already have Mata, Hazard, Oscar, Marin as direct competition, as well as Ramires who played on the right of the 3 last year. Moses is also set to come in to compete for one of the 3 positions behind the front man, and we even still have Malouda on the books (surely he's gonna leave!).

Also, the Times are reporting that Piazon will be named in the PL squad too.

So simply there are too many players who are younger, currently better or with greater potential ahead of Benayoun in the pecking order.

Respectfully I disagree with pretty much all that has been said. He is most definitely good enough to be a squad player for us and im not suggesting (nor would yossi be expecting) to be ahead of the likes of marin in the pecking order. But we get one or two injuries when the fixture list packs up and we may be very thankful we have him in the squad.

He adds great depth for us and expects to be on the bench so any gametime will be a blessing for him. If it comes down to one of him or flo staying then I think benayoun will definitely add more.

My feeling exactly! If you like them so much, go join them.

There's 14 midfielders in the current Chelsea squad, many of which are attacking ones. Just how much cover is needed? The dead wood needs shifted.

sals I think you are on to something.

I personally think he is a better option than Malouda, given he is more flexible and is just a bit more of a willing worker.

He had one season with us, was injured for most of it. Came back, was the best player we had in pre-season last year and was then farmed out. Not a lot of sense in my view.

I hope he stays and I think he can contribute. He is nothing if not someone who will make a valuable contribution.

Personally i think he's a decent player and an above average squad player. But i doubt he will accept being on the bench all season, his past few tweets seem to imply that his future is elsewhere.

He cannot stay because of his hairstyle. I'm sorry, but it's completely unacceptable. We're Chelsea Football Club and we shouldn't stand for it.

You have torres in your team.

as a fellow country man of yossi i consider myself objective about him (just like i did with grant) and in my honest opinion he has no place in a squad with ambitions like chelsea does, he is a decent player and i recon him as suitable player for the likes of Everton, AV, Fulham and such.
