A thread for Piazon

Featured Replies

He's got 2 first team appearances under his belt, so I thought he needed his own thread.

He looked a bit lost last night, and it was no surprise to see him getting pulled for Hazard after 55 minutes on the pitch.

A tough game to come into, and the more experience he gets the better, but he doesn't look close to breaking into the first team as of yet, especially with the midfielders we have in front of him.

To be selected to play against Man.Utd in only his second appearance for Chelsea was a hell of a big ask. He didn't get much of a look-in during the game, but I've every faith in the lad, he's definitely one for the future.

Piazon had a bit of a baptism of fire last night, the UTD lads were really shutting us down quickly and well up for it after knowing their team were gifted the match at the weekend and Piazon just never got the time on the ball he thought he had.

I'm sure that will be good for him and he will have it in the back of his mind when he gets more chances.

Hadn't he been out injured for a couple of weeks? I thought he looked off the pace but I've seen enough of him for the reserves and youth team to know he has potential.

Looked completely out of his depth last night, needs to be brought on for 20 minutes every now and again. Maybe because he's used to being the go-to-guy in the ressies, he struggled in an established team. Either way, think it's a bit unfair that he got to start whereas players like Billy Clifford and Nathan Ake can't even make the bench for a cup game. Billy Clifford is a fantastic talent.

A couple of seasons on loan would hopefully bring him up to scratch. The club should be looking at how Ryan progressed and follow that. Rushing these youngsters through isnt good for them or us. Well unless we want to turn into arsenal.

Piazon should be loaned out to a Championship team for a couple of seasons, then given 20-30 minute appearances in less important premiership games for a while. The poor lad was completely out of his depth and didn't get one mention by the commentators until his substitution. Why on Earth was he started before Marin, who has Bundesliga and national team experience?

Thats a good point. I get the feeling that Robbie doesnt rate Marin. If true its quite surprising becuase he was our best player pre season by far.

It's very hard to make an impact when you come straight in to a big game like this - although it's not a big competition for Chelsea. Moses had a similiar baptism of fire when he played the CL game some weeks back but on Wednesday night he was really good. It's a real bonus to have these players with potential bubbling up in the reserves and at their age, although they might not think so, a year or so fighting your way in is no bad thing.
