Under Ancelotti we had the blip in his first season as well, thing is he was allowed to sort it out and we went on to win the Double, Had Robbie been allowed the same leeway I believe we'd have got something out of this season and a good happy squad to start next season with.

The mood of the players and fans would have been one of unity as opposed to what we have now, a few people thinking one win will set everything straight and others knowing anything achieved will be totaly irrelevant while that Spouser is in charge.

In Rafas defence (it pains me to write that), he didn't actually say it was the same thing. He only said that special things can happen in the Champions League - which, after last season, we can all agree on - and that there will be similar emotions as in 2004 if we do.

Abramovich needs to understand "blips" are part of team sport. Managers are paid the big money not for ensuring teams don't have blips, but rather for getting them out blips when they inevitably occur.

The culture at Chelsea now is that as soon as a blip occurs, everyone is looking at each other thinking.... "we'll this blip may as well continue until the current manager is sacked and the new manager arrives".

Problem is we always seem to have a blip at the same time of year. And it lasts for a long time, usually costing us the title. United and City don't really have them.
