Zinedine Zidane reveals admiration for Eden Hazard

Featured Replies

To be fair, when was the last time we sold a first-team fixture we were determined to keep hold of? Robben? Eidur?

I know we have seen a few recent player departures (e.g. Mata, Luiz, Schurrle, de Bruyne, Sturridge) that the fans were none too happy about, but how many of them were genuinely key players at the point that they left? Clearly management had reservations about all of them, and it's not as if we weren't appropriately compensated!

The club refused to give Robben the wages he was after and given his injury record were ultimately willing to let him go. I think with Eidur it was a mutual thing, but I'm not 100% sure to be honest, I don't remember exactly. But there was certainly no acrimony over his departure.

All the rest were surplus to requirements for one reason or another, even if some us would have wanted certain players in that list to stay.

Let's be honest here - yes, we are a big club now, but we don't have the clout of a Real Madrid or Barcelona. If one of our players was approached and made enough of a fuss then they would be allowed to leave. But Hazard doesn't want to go, he's said it enough times himself and there haven't been any reports from anybody suggesting otherwise.

I don't get the attraction of Real Madrid, the have sh*t fans, a sh*t board, it's all about Ronaldo and you get chucked out for the next flavour of the month.

At Real Madrid, you are just another player, you will never be loved by Real Madrid like you would be at other clubs. They are a souless club.

Or Ronaldo from United

Or Figo from Barca

...

That was before the ffp era...if Ronaldo played for United in the current time_phase....they wouldn't sell..unless he had a release clause....simple as that..

Course they wouldn't......

Because of their history.

Huge stadium, world wide fan base and of course a 50/50 chance of winning titles and CL footy.

They are a spoiled bunch but the appeal is always going to be huge for players.

wow..sarcasm..

Manchester United are the richest club in the world, they didn't HAVE to sell Ronaldo at all.

They did because he was digging his heels in wanting the move that he always wanted, once your best player has got his mind elsewhere what is the point keeping them?

Except gallas..I don't think there has been any top player who has wanted out of Chelsea..Hazard won't go anywhere because he plays for a top club giving him an excellent chance to win titles and individual recognition.

Ronaldo always wanted to play for Madrid..even when he played in Portugal..he never hid his ambition to play for them...whereas

Hazard has clearly stated that his only dream is chelsea.

For example..Luke Shaw's dream club is chelsea. .if there had been a situation in Luke shaw's transfer that chelsea real madrid and united matched the 32 mil...there is only one club that Shaw would choose....

I think it's a possibility in the summer of 2016. By that time, Ancelotti will probably be gone and there will be pressure to refresh the squad with new big names. Ronaldo, as good as he is, will be 31 at the point and who knows, may actually be showing signs of mortality. Gareth Bale's stint in Spain could very well be over, given how unloved he is there. So there will be a perceived name for a new superstar, and when Madrid come calling, they usually get their man. Hazard may be attracted to the non-obligation to defend at Madrid  and the protection afforded to attacking players by Spanish referees. I'd hate to see him go but I think it's very possible. Our problem is that without Hazard, we're more or less toothless going forward, so I hope we prepare for the possibility of his departure wisely.

I'm not sure what that has to do with Hazard and Madrid tbh...

Why would he want to join them anyway? Like he could be sure of starting with the likes of Bale, James and Ronaldo there already.

I think he'd only be looked at once Bale has gone and Ronaldo starts to decline.

Still a few seasons before the latter.

So basically u are admiting defeat and saying that real are a bigger club than Chelsea.... smh..

10 CL titles, several league titles. They're definitely bigger than us, nothing wrong with saying that.

They are arguably the biggest club in the world.

Well maybe Liverpool if you asked Brenda and Stevie Me

yeah, I feel as id Real and Barca are kind of their own level in terms of club status. Utd are Bayern were possibly in the category but definitely a level below (just in terms of status)
