BelgradeCFC
Chelsea’s Premier League title success earned them £99million in total prize money according to official figures - the most ever earned by a single club in one season from central funds. The precise eye-watering sum was £98,999,554, made up of £24.9m ‘merit’ cash for finishing top of the table, £19.98m ‘facility fees’ for being in so many live TV games, plus equal shares of the domestic TV deal (nearly £22m), overseas TV deals (£27.8m) and commercial income from the leagues sponsors, such as Barclays (£4.4m). http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-3108205/Chelsea-earned-record-99m-prize-money-Premier-League-title-success.html
Zola
Seems wrong that we win the league and only earn a couple of million extra that the likes of Utd
splishsplosh
I like the fact that the money is evenly distributed amongst the teams in the league, but the small jumps in prize money between places doesn't exactly spur the teams to really go for it. You can't fail no matter where you end up. Even if you're relegated, parachute payments for 3 years £££.
Bobbywoodhogan
There really is little financial difference in third and fourth. It seems if you do win the qualifiers you will probably end up financially better off than third anyway given the revenue from the two extra games. andy
Wow, That is a lot of money no wonder Platini has scrapped FFP. The fines they can impose pail into insignificance compared to these funds. £65m for bottom for QPR ! Blimey! do they get the parachute payment on top of that ? Beerqueen
Re Merit Money - how come 3rd is less than 4th? And 6th more than 5th? And 9th more than 8th? And 12th more than 11th? Have I missed something?

Have I missed something? 3rd is not less than 4th. There are two columns, overall position on the money list and league position. By league position ( merit money) , everything is correct. Well they didn't say they were scrapping FFP just that they were relaxing it. But they still haven't clarified what that actually means.
Scott Harris
Seems wrong that we win the league and only earn a couple of million extra that the likes of Utd I agree. We win the league by a distance and haven't even earned half a million more than City. Surely the winners should get a fair bit more than everyone else below them. You get about £10m for winning the FA Cup as comparison.
