The same outcome as many of us have predicted since season end and even before.

We need someone beside Matic. Vidal would have been perfect. Veratti is a player too.

We need a right sided attacker as Willian looks very uncomfortable there and Oscar has stagnated massively over the last year. No progression whatsoever.

I also think Dave has to move to right back and a left back signed. Dave done nothing wrong but each season Ivan is regressing and it's painful to watch.

Address these and we will spank this league again. We have Jose and could win the league with this team, however it won't be anywhere near last season and we all know it.

f**kin hell, it's a wonder we won the league with half a side.

All this talk of Loftus-Cheek, Traore, Moses, Kenedy and despite spending 25 million on Cuadrado - and Jose starts with Ramires on the right!

Old habits really do die hard.

Why can't we just buy Pedro and put an end to all this nonsense?

You either started watching after 30 minutes or are in good company on here when it comes to observing football as Ramires did not start on the right.

Strange seeing Cech in the opponent's goal and realising just how imposing he is.

As others have said, Matic and Willian were excellent, Fabregas had flashes, Hazard was subdued.

The real problem is midfield, we still haven't worked it out. I've got high hopes for Loftus-Cheek and there's a place up for grabs if he impresses Jose. He must be the reason we haven't gone out and bought a top-notch midfielder because a star performer alongside Matic in the pivot would take us up a notch.

Falcao was a worry for me. Same as he was at Utd. Easily muscled out of it. We missed Costa, big-time.

We brought on Moses and Falcao and that showed we haven't really strengthened the squad, which seems a strange decision but we have to have faith in Jose, he clearly has a lot of faith in this lot and thinks they'll get better, and maybe he has a lot of faith in one or two youngsters, although I won't hold my breath.

Cuadrado? Was he on the bench? Writing's got to be on the wall. £23m and Moses picked ahead of him. If we get a work permit for Kenedy he's clearly on his way out.

Personally, I don't mind losing these sort of games, I always think the more pre-season games you lose the more the manager will see the weaknesses, rather than getting a false sense of security or feeling overconfident. You never know, it may lead the board to getting their chequebook out, maybe we'll go all out for Stones now you never know, although we really seem to be lacking an attacker, somebody to take a little bit of the pressure off Hazard. Somebody to give us an extra dimension in attack. Oscar and Willian are good players but they're a little bit predictable and I thought our performance lacked a spark, although we played quite well and were unlucky to lose.

Never nice losing to that lot but hey ho. Let them feel over-confident. You could see by Jose's face on the touchline how much he hates losing and that bodes well for the season ahead. I still feel we'll do it.

We still have the best manager in the Prem.

Quality post that Davey, always a pleasure to read your input.

I understand the media putting the spin on things as well as Arsenal fans but why are even people here banging on about Jose losing his record to Wenger?

Last time I checked, pre-season games didn't count towards anything like unbeaten records or goal tallies.

6 subs allowed and straight to penalties after 90 mins = pre-season friendly.

Jesus..........

All that being said I will admit I do have concerns in certain areas, I trust in Jose 100% but Loftus Cheek? Can he really be relied upon? Let's wait and see, and the striker situation, Jose has some fixation with Falcao I believe, still not too onfident on him, hope he proves me otherwise though obviously.

As a neutral and let's face it, you need the objective view occasionally, I thought Arsenal looked more dangerous when they broke free.

As an England fan, Oxlade Chamberlain looks great and I hope he can do that for England. You have to admit that was a good goal.

I think Cech when called upon had more confidence than Courtois.

Disappointed in Mourinho. It's not all about you. What's that stuff waiting to shake the hands of Arsenal players? Probably pissed off that Wenger snubbed him at the end. But given he thinks Wenger is a c**t and makes it plain that's what he thinks, why would Wenger want to shake hands with him?

Disappointed in Mourinho, for shaking hands with players? Are you serious? Clearly a gunner in disguise.

Maybe you should check again then. The record already included the Community Shield of 2005.

Jose has no plan to play Loftus-Cheek other than in the occasional game. He will be training with the first team squad as part of his development. Jose has said as much.

He's a 'neutral' apparently, so why someone who doesn't support a team is on a football forum I have not a clue!

It was more or less a friendly.

It's not just a friendly though, it's the supercup. Is it the most important game of the season? I sure hope not. But dismissing it as just another pre-season friendly like our games against New York Red Bulls or PSG is just silly.

If he is a neatrul, then he might not want to attack our manager for showing some class, I don't know how shaking hands with players can be interpreted as it's all about me, ridiculous.

Okay, well I'll say it's a super friendly, of coarse I wanted us to win the game, but it's not that important.

Yes, he described himself as neutral stating we needed his take. As an anti Jose he could be a reincarnation of course.

Willian looked excellent. Really rate him.

Agree, he goes from strength to strength. I now love watching him play, exciting.

MotM for me.

I support Charlton Athletic if you need to know (and don't take the piss)

Just calling it the way I see it

If Chelsea had beat Arsenal do you honestly think Mourinho would have been waiting to shake their hands?

I know football is tribal but does that excuse some of you from suspending all critical faculties?

I don't think so

Arsenal won deservedly......get over it

There's a section where newbies can introduce themselves. We have some fine members from other clubs, but rudeness is unnecessary tribalism or not.

So congratulating the winners is a problem now?  Jesus.  Whatever he does is wrong in some people's eyes.

How are you, you were there weren't you?

I'm not being rude

Just expressing a view

The curtain raiser to the season is soon forgotten

The likelihood is that you lot will win again, but I'm going to continuously call it the way I see it.

I'd like us (Charlton) to do well this season.....sadly. I think we have no chance of the play offs let alone promotion

You Chelsea fans have no idea what it's like to be a real football fan.......

Maybe you should check again then. The record already included the Community Shield of 2005.

Well it shouldn't.

Take away the 2005 friendly and there's still a record, take away today's friendly and no record has been broken.

It's not what's said, but how.

'You Chelsea fans...' rude.

As it happens in my neck of the woods there are quite a few Charlton fans it being seen as one of the club's nearer London, shame if you represent them poorly.

Can you name one competitive football competition that allows more than 3 substitutions and goes straight to penalties if tied at 90 minutes?
