July 29, 20159 yr Hello and welcome. I'm a fan, but don't have the in depth knowledge and understanding of some here, but in that limited fashion I can be a good control as it were. 1. Started so well, excitingly so. We finished well enough, but at the start I thought we'd be even further ahead. Wrong. Emotions aside, there is evidence that refs of our games suffered very poor judgement. There is also a plethora of evidence of negative media; compare emotive Chelsea associated language with language associated with other teams. Compare Costa fouls and associated disciplinary measures with other players, Barnsley's for example. Even as recent as Ibrahimovich. 2. I think we'll be top again after a closer finish than this season. 3. Jose is a unique talent, an extraordinary talent. The only tarnish for me would be a scandal, finding out he'd lied or deceived for example. 4. The whole transfer thing has made my head spin. I take what we get because I think the powers that be know what they're doing. I'd like to see a different, better system. 5. Any that would secure midfield as dictated by those in the know. 6. I actually liked that a youngster was not about to be manipulated. I don't like the cloak and dagger nature of some transfers. 7. As long as spending pays off. I'm keen to see how Benteke gets on in a bigger club. None of them put fear into me. 8. 4th or 5th. 9. Not really, he's a troubled chap who puts me in mind of Gazza, if Jose can't nurture, enfold him, I don't think anyone can.
July 29, 20159 yr 1) Fantastic with the league and cup win but obviously we were lacking some depth for the FA Cup and Champions League 2) Win everything lol. Think we'll finish top again but it'll be much closer run than last season3) Absolutely. Would only see him getting sacked if we capitulated and didn't challenge for the league 4) Basically been like for like movements so far 5) While it's a bit risky, I wouldn't be too disappointed if we went into the season with what we have and banked on giving Loftus-Cheek some game time and hoping for improvements from Oscar (First summer off in 3 seasons I think?) and Cuardrado may have bedded in a bit better 6) Bit disingenious to put the whole thing on Sterling and his agent. Looks like Liverpool management tried to bully him into taking a lower contract by leaking details to the media and while money was probably a part of it, I'd imagine a bigger part was being so close to the title and watching the team regress so badly. Getting played all over the park wouldn't have helped either  7) Ok signings for where you're at but not what you'll want if you actually want to make it back into top4. Maybe good enough to have a decent shot at a cup?  8) 5th or 6th  9) Um.. we'll get back to you
July 29, 20159 yr Hi all, Loz said it'd be ok to post here. Liverpool fan in peace (as the title suggests!). I write for a Liverpool site called The Tomkins Times and as a preseason warm up, I am trying to gauge the opinions of fans of others clubs. If you could take a few minutes to answer some questions for an article, it'd be greatly appreciated. Thanks Krish 1) How did you think the 14/15 season went for you compared to your expectations at the start of the campaign? Where did it go right and/or wrong? Couldn't have gone better. Im not a big lover of the CL and feel we lost to a team who is at least as good as our selves. The league is always the priority and we got that plus a cup. 2) What are you hopes/expectations for 15/16 and where do you think you will finish in the league? Would like to win the league again, won't be easy though 3) Do you have full trust in your manager? To play devil's advocate, what would have to go wrong for him to be sacked? Abasaloutly, best manager in the world. For me relegation 4) It's been an oddly quiet transfer window this summer, but of the business you have done so far, are you happy with the ins and outs? We need are right wing addressing, but that might come from an unexpected source. 5) Obviously there is still some time to go, so which player/s would you like to sign, sell and/or which positions strengthened? Pedro is realistic and would do the job. Probably need a left back 6) Speaking of transfers, what was your take on the Raheem Sterling transfer and the way he & his agent forced through the move? Wanted him here. But I think this forum was split on him. I have no opinion on the method, raheam did what he considered best for him by doing it he knew he would become the villian, he has to live with it now. We live by are decisions. 7) What do you make of Liverpool's signings? (Joe Gomez, Adam Bogdan, Danny Ings, James Milner, Nathaniel Clyne, Roberto Firmino and Christian Benteke). Can't really answer this one 8) Where do you think LFC will finish in the league? 5th 9) Do you want Balotelli? Do we need a cleaner Thanks again for your help. Edited July 29, 20159 yr by barak81
July 29, 20159 yr 1) How did you think the 14/15 season went for you compared to your expectations at the start of the campaign? Where did it go right and/or wrong?  Pretty damned good thank you.  Tailed off performance wise but blasted teams away at the beginning.  CL was disappointing but hey can't have everything - well not every year!  2) What are you hopes/expectations for 15/16 and where do you think you will finish in the league? Hope to get at least to the semi of the CL and think we'll be first or second  3) Do you have full trust in your manager? To play devil's advocate, what would have to go wrong for him to be sacked?  Do bears sh*t in the woods?  Shag Roman's missus.  4) It's been an oddly quiet transfer window this summer, but of the business you have done so far, are you happy with the ins and outs?  Softly, softly.  We won the league at a bit of a stroll but other teams have improved.  So need a little strengthening but not much.  5) Obviously there is still some time to go, so which player/s would you like to sign, sell and/or which positions strengthened?  Messi.  6) Speaking of transfers, what was your take on the Raheem Sterling transfer and the way he & his agent forced through the move?  He was free to turn down a new contract if he didn't want one.  Who leaked the deal - I believe it was Liverpool.  Both parties didn't come out of it well, and I don't mean Sterling and his agent but Sterling and his agent AND Liverpool.  He wanted to leave to win things and Liverpool couldn't seem to cope with that.  7) What do you make of Liverpool's signings? (Joe Gomez, Adam Bogdan, Danny Ings, James Milner, Nathaniel Clyne, Roberto Firmino and Christian Benteke). Not great 8) Where do you think LFC will finish in the league? 6th  9) Do you want Balotelli?  Ha ha has it come to that - offering him over a forum - free with a bottle of wine?  No thanks.
July 29, 20159 yr 1) funnily enough the season went exactly as I thought it would, when the previous season ended I knew we'd win the League Cup and the League the following season. I'm not sure why I just did. It's a feeling I had, I've had this feeling on all our previous title wins to (although nit with any additional cups like this time). It went wrong in the FA Cup and the Champions League, whilst I actually wasn't upset about going out of those competitions I was with the way we went out of both. 2) hope to retain the league title, anything else is a bonus. To end the season trophy less would be a shame though. 3) complete faith indeed, he needs to be given time no matter what happens. If we ended next season trophyless though I would worry about Roman's trigger finger. 4) not really, Falcao does not inspire hope, Begovic was a great swoop but the business for me hasn't been enough. A team of Champions can not stand still, they need to constantly improve and I don't think we've done that. We've also lost two great leaders in Cech and Drogba, losing those voices in the back could have a big effect on us. 5) Pedro, but he's United bound now. I do worry we don't have proper cover in DMF and if Hazard gets injured. 6) it was all a it of a mess, I don't think it was handled well by anyone. 7) I think you have done some shrewd business but I think you have not really strengthened exactly where you need to i.e. Defence and MF (barring Milner of course) 8) 5th 9) haha no
July 29, 20159 yr 1) Great season overall. I was quietly confident we'd win the League all the time, I thought we had the best XI on paper from day one. Beating Sp*rs for the League Cup was brilliant too. The Champions League was a major disappointment, the FA Cup was more of a freak event than anything. I don't think we had enough depth last season though realistically to achieve any more.  2) Retaining the Title for me is the benchmark. Last 16 of the Champions League was not good enough, I expect a QF at the minimum. A semi final would show we're on the right track, but to be honest I think we're quite far off being able to win it.  3) Absolutely. He is the best manager in world football. Another breakdown in relations with Roman is what would be needed for him to be sacked, or an unfathomably poor run of results.  4) I think we replaced the outgoing with realistically the best that was available. Begovic was great bit of business, IMO. But I've wanted to see a marquee signing or two, sadly that looks unlikely to happen.  5) Baba Rahman as the backup LB. John Stones, and I'd love someone like Griezmann to play on the right. I wanted someone to replace Mikel too earlier on in the window, but all the talented DM's are no longer on the market.  6) I thought both Sterling's camp and LFC could have handled the situation more gracefully and discreetly. The kid was always gonna get his move, it didn't need all the shenanigans from his agent and from ex-Liverpool players lambasting him in public.  7) Overall, you've got the best that you could have, realistically speaking. Milner and Clyne, both very shrewd moves. As for the rest, we shall see. Firmino is one to watch.  8) 5th. Last season's top 4 are all much stronger at this point.  9) Hell no. I reckon he might not even be playing football any more in a few years' time. Edited July 29, 20159 yr by Celery1989
July 29, 20159 yr 1) How did you think the 14/15 season went for you compared to your expectations at the start of the campaign? Where did it go right and/or wrong?  Met my expectations in the most part, thought we would get to the semi's of the CL but the Carling cup was an added bonus. Keeping the majority of our first 11 free from injury was where it went right. Not rotating enough and allowing our first team to look jaded in the 2nd half of the season is where it went wrong (along with the PSG game of coarse).  2) What are you hopes/expectations for 15/16 and where do you think you will finish in the league?  Hopeful of reclaiming the title, making the semi's of the CL, and a decent cup run in which we blood some youngsters.Expectations Top 4 and to blood some youngsters in the cup.I think we will finish 1st but it should be a much tighter contest  3) Do you have full trust in your manager? To play devil's advocate, what would have to go wrong for him to be sacked?  In Jose we trust.A bust up with Abramovich otherwise he is pretty much safe  4) It's been an oddly quiet transfer window this summer, but of the business you have done so far, are you happy with the ins and outs?  Relatively I wasn't expecting much as I don't think we needed much. A few outs are a little disappointing, Cech the prime example, happy with who we have bought in though.  5) Obviously there is still some time to go, so which player/s would you like to sign, sell and/or which positions strengthened?  A left back is needed preferably Baba Rahman  6) Speaking of transfers, what was your take on the Raheem Sterling transfer and the way he & his agent forced through the move?  TBH I think Liverpools handling was just as bad as Raheems and started the whole debacle off by coming out to the press and saying Raheem hasn't signed a new contract as he wants more money in order to get the fans and media on his back to pressure him to sign and it backfired by putting Raheem and his agent on the defensive and I think Liverpool are lucky to have got 50 mill.  7) What do you make of Liverpool's signings? (Joe Gomez, Adam Bogdan, Danny Ings, James Milner, Nathaniel Clyne, Roberto Firmino and Christian Benteke).  Joe Gomez to soon to say.  Danny Ings and Milner are good bench warmers and squad members.  Nat Clyne is a quality signing imo.  Firmino I will believe the hype when I see it think he was overrated and overpriced but only time will tell.  Benteke is a good player but I am not sure he will fit at Liverpool under Brenda.    8) Where do you think LFC will finish in the league?  4th ahead of Man U  9) Do you want Balotelli?  Does anyone Edited July 29, 20159 yr by PedroMendez
July 30, 20159 yr 1) How did you think the 14/15 season went for you compared to your expectations at the start of the campaign? Where did it go right and/or wrong? expected to win the league, but not as easily as we did  2) What are you hopes/expectations for 15/16 and where do you think you will finish in the league? think we'll win it again  3) Do you have full trust in your manager? To play devil's advocate, what would have to go wrong for him to be sacked? unconditional support 100% he knows what to do. Under no circumstance would he get sacked this season  4) It's been an oddly quiet transfer window this summer, but of the business you have done so far, are you happy with the ins and outs? would like to see a couple in's, a defender(hopefully stones) and central midfielder. wanted a right sided player as well but moses has pretty much played himself into contention again which im happy with  5) Obviously there is still some time to go, so which player/s would you like to sign, sell and/or which positions strengthened? stones and pedro. would love a central midfielder but honestly cant think of one that stands out at the moment. most of the top players seem unavailable unfortunately.  6) Speaking of transfers, what was your take on the Raheem Sterling transfer and the way he & his agent forced through the move? hilarious to be honest, but it is what it is  7) What do you make of Liverpool's signings? (Joe Gomez, Adam Bogdan, Danny Ings, James Milner, Nathaniel Clyne, Roberto Firmino and Christian Benteke). big fans of firmino and milner. not seen enough of gomez and not really sold on benteke as i dont think he suits your style of play. may end up like carroll v2? ings while cheap, not sure he's going to have much influence this season especially if sturridge gets fit again. clyne is a good player but doesn't get me out of my seat.  i think you guys have done ok transfer wise but i dont know if it's going to be enough to get into the top 4  8) Where do you think LFC will finish in the league? 5th unfortunately for you fellas, i just see the current top 4 being of a different class from squads to resources. your transfer window so far hasnt really shown to me anyway, that you can close that gap  9) Do you want Balotelli? funnily enough i wanted him from milan before he went to liverpool, got lambasted by people on here for being stupid. guess they were right and i really am dumb. but i still rate him as a talent.
July 30, 20159 yr 1) How did you think the 14/15 season went for you compared to your expectations at the start of the campaign? Where did it go right and/or wrong?  Pretty amazing really.  I thought we'd at least win the title after Jose's year back and forming the squad he wanted.  So to win was great, but was always cautious.  It went wrong obviously against Bradford, and I don't think (despite not actually losing) we were attacking enough in Europe.  2) What are you hopes/expectations for 15/16 and where do you think you will finish in the league?  Ideally, and I have said this for a while, I'd like to see a couple of our academy players make it into the first team more and more.  Used as squad players.  Not sure on the legaue, top 3 but I think that could change between now and the end of the transfer window.  I don't think we need as huge an overhaul as some are suggesting, but I hope we don't stay stagnant.  3) Do you have full trust in your manager? To play devil's advocate, what would have to go wrong for him to be sacked?  Yes, completely trust him.  The only thing that could go wrong would be for him to maybe get "too defensive" and sign a bunch of athletes but no flair.  4) It's been an oddly quiet transfer window this summer, but of the business you have done so far, are you happy with the ins and outs?  Begovic is a solid back up.  Falcao remains to be seen.  Sad to see Luis go, but if it means a youth team coming in as back up to Azpi then that would be good and fits in with point 2.  5) Obviously there is still some time to go, so which player/s would you like to sign, sell and/or which positions strengthened?  Dream world - Varane and Reus.  I think we need to start planning for Terry's retirement, and our RW is a bit of a mystery seeing as we've got Cuadrado and Moses.  Not sure if Traore will be part of the team or not.  6) Speaking of transfers, what was your take on the Raheem Sterling transfer and the way he & his agent forced through the move?  Indicative of the modern game.  Was a bit of a petulant child, and shows the power that agents have.  But he's good and English, so that drives a premium.  I do think a few of your past stars talking about him disrespecting the club was a bit OTT though.  7) What do you make of Liverpool's signings? (Joe Gomez, Adam Bogdan, Danny Ings, James Milner, Nathaniel Clyne, Roberto Firmino and Christian Benteke).  Some great, some will need to see with time.  I think the biggest concern is Rodgers and can he get the best out of your team without coming across as a self proclaiming messiah (I know that's rich with Jose at our helm, but Jose has the results to back his claims up).  We (and it's not just Chelsea fans) have a bit of a laugh at his comments about "spending 100 Million..." or his "No sympathy for Southampton" coming back to bite him in the arse.  I think your owners may not give him the full season if he starts slipping up again; they need to see a return on that investment.  8) Where do you think LFC will finish in the league?  Europa League spots  9) Do you want Balotelli?  Nah, cheers though!  Thanks again for your help.
July 30, 20159 yr 1) How did you think the 14/15 season went for you compared to your expectations at the start of the campaign? Where did it go right and/or wrong? I was hopeful we'd win the league, but feel it's tougher now than it was in Jose's first spell. 2) What are you hopes/expectations for 15/16 and where do you think you will finish in the league? I think it's a big ask, but priority 1 is retaining The League. Anything else is a bonus. 3) Do you have full trust in your manager? To play devil's advocate, what would have to go wrong for him to be sacked? Full trust, the best in the business. Can't even think of him leaving. 4) It's been an oddly quiet transfer window this summer, but of the business you have done so far, are you happy with the ins and outs? Up to now, yes. I think Falcao will score at Chelsea. 5) Obviously there is still some time to go, so which player/s would you like to sign, sell and/or which positions strengthened? Cambiasso, Stones 6) Speaking of transfers, what was your take on the Raheem Sterling transfer and the way he & his agent forced through the move? Glad he didn't come to Chelsea. 7) What do you make of Liverpool's signings? (Joe Gomez, Adam Bogdan, Danny Ings, James Milner, Nathaniel Clyne, Roberto Firmino and Christian Benteke). 6 in, any out? Doesn't look like much reasoning in these purchases. Milner should be ok, after his lobotomy. Clyne should be ok. Not sure whether the others fit. 8) Where do you think LFC will finish in the league? 5th 9) Do you want Balotelli? No, he's trouble on, and off, the pitch
August 1, 20159 yr  1) How did you think the 14/15 season went for you compared to your expectations at the start of the campaign? Where did it go right and/or wrong? it was expected for us to win the league from the start but i thought it would be a bit more competitive  2) What are you hopes/expectations for 15/16 and where do you think you will finish in the league? retaining the league and i hope we got anther double with the FA cup, can't see us winning champions league tho  3) Do you have full trust in your manager? To play devil's advocate, what would have to go wrong for him to be sacked? no i hope roman do the right thing and swap jose with brendan  4) It's been an oddly quiet transfer window this summer, but of the business you have done so far, are you happy with the ins and outs? yes, replacing drogba with falcao is a huge upgrade and replacing cech with a top 5 PL keeper and Baba looking like it's  a done deal,  been a solid transfer window so far  5) Obviously there is still some time to go, so which player/s would you like to sign, sell and/or which positions strengthened? Stones, as much as i love JT and what a season he had last year i think that he will take a steep decline this season and Stones is the perfect replacement  6) Speaking of transfers, what was your take on the Raheem Sterling transfer and the way he & his agent forced through the move? hillarious  7) What do you make of Liverpool's signings? (Joe Gomez, Adam Bogdan, Danny Ings, James Milner, Nathaniel Clyne, Roberto Firmino and Christian Benteke). I really envy the milner and clyne signing i think they will be a big contributor, i don't know anything about firmino and i'm not sold on benteke  8) Where do you think LFC will finish in the league? 5th, best case scenario 4th with united finishing 5th  9) Do you want Balotelli? yes, i also want to drink cat piss
