been impressed from what ive seen at the confederations cup...small samples obviously. physically he's a beast, extremely quick not just for a defender but for any position and looks like he can play a bit too. kinda feel like he is the player zouma could of been if not for his injuries

if we sign morata or belotti then we indeed dodged a bullet if we sign llorente and/or no one then its not looking good so just depends on how the club goes about the next few weeks. still, i'm bloody amazed at how many chelsea fans are depressed over this whole ordeal, kiddies living vicariously through a footballer just because they thought he was a chelsea fan like us and they wanted the dream move to happen only for reality to hit them smack in the middle of the face. once you remove his supposed association to chelsea you'll find united have signed a lumbering albeit, physical specimen who is often lazy and although he is a good finisher in the box....he cannot dribble or hold up the ball at an elite level...or at least at the level that some of these so called chelsea fans really aspire to.

if you asked me a couple days ago i would of told you i was just eager af to sign any striker, didnt care who, and whilst im not lukaku's biggest fan, if we signed him then i would trust conte to make it work. ive gotten into arguments on here with pro lukaku fans about his ability. and to be quite honest, i feel like they are way too attached to a guy that not only isn't that good but they feel an affinity with him just because he's a chelsea fan. so naturally these types blow their loads and the thought of a chelsea fan living the dream and playing for chelsea. thats another story - but my point in the end is i think we've dodged a bullet here especially if we go on to sign someone like morata instead. but im also wiling to admit that if we sign someone like llorente or decide to keep remy and costa in the squad for this season and buy no one else then that would be a catastrophic fail on the clubs behalf and that we would of been better with lukaku. but thats if something like that is to happen....which going but whats happened so far is a possibility i guess lol

awesome opportunity for colkett he still has a long way to go but he's filling out physically a lot better than some of his predecessors who he seemed to be compared to both in style of play and build (mceachran in particular).

we all have a strong desire for a young player to come through the ranks as it's easier to relate to them as most of them have an affinity with chelsea just like we do but it doesn't work out like that in real life. Just as someone else has said earlier in the thread - the role of the academy is to produce professional footballers period. not just footballers for chelsea. and our record in the last 10 years has only gotten better and better - jack cork, ryan bertrand, scott sinclair, nathan ake, patrick van anholt, fabio borini, jeffrey bruma, miroslav stoch, gokhan tore, gael kakuta, bertrand traore....these players in particular have all gone on to play at the highest level of league football in the top 4 or 5 leagues (indeed, with varied degree of success). but we played a significant part in their development and no only did the club make money on them in most cases, but the academy takes a lot of pride in the results of their education at chelsea. that's not even including the legion of academy graduates we have playing at lower levels in the system, all earning a living doing what they were trained and taught to do at chelsea.... Eventually, one will come through that will be good enough for the first team which is an absolute bonus - but the priority of the academy is to educate and produce footballers + make a profit on them if possible ...which we do just about as good as anyone in this country.

this could be a blessing in disguise for us, like others have said, puts pressure on the club to sign big so the burden isn't all on Eden. i just hope that when eden returns that he'll be on the front foot despite the lack of match fitness. worst case scenario is that it takes him 6 months to kick into gear and we're already knocked out of the CL group stage and lagging behind in 4th domestically....

he had a great loan in the first half of the season, then a solid one for the second party of the season. ready for a championship level team or vitesse for sure.

that's always been the case for just about every club back home. im still relatively young at 27 but i always noticed that when i used to go to games with my dad and his group of friends (generally that entire crowd) were always in casual clothing unless it was day out at a cup final. contrast that with the fact that now i live in australia and the culture here is a lot different, adults (doesn't matter the age) almost always were club shirts, and even a cap or a beanie. at least something related to the team they support not just at the game, but on the street during the week as well lol and its not just a football thing, they do it in all sports. i think they have a similar culture in north america

willing to give this guy a shot but i feel like he comes up short when being compared to matic and mikel who were also big guys but they both actually had a good degree of technical skills. not sure this bloke has that in his locker but would love to be proved wrong

I was a fan of selling him to China because i felt the money that was being talked about was too good to turn down. But since that has gone away, i'd rather see him stay. I'd like to see us add another striker anyway but in the end, i would still like to keep him around whether he's a starter or not. For all his faults, you still cannot find many players that are better than him that are even available. His goals won us more games than any other player in this team or any other team in the league this year and even when he doesn't score, he's always causing problems (for defences). In my opinion he's been a fantastic player for the club. Articles about him wanting out by the media don't even bother me, i'm only interested in what he does on the pitch and while he's not perfect and has his flaws, he always fights for the club.

not sure why some of you sound so bitter about this to be honest. you can question his attitude but at the end of the day he's had to make a decision for his own career. the club gets a decent(ish) fee for him which will only increase depending if he ends up being a good player later on, whilst not really losing out too much when you consider how good tammy is going now, with ugbo coming in after him as well. as for churning out too many championship and lower prem level players....my nephew was in the academy a few years ago and i remember asking him what his first day was like as a scholar and he told me neil bath sat all the new first years down and gave them a bit of a speech about how the academy isn't really just an academy and that it's an institution. the main point was that for these players, chelsea as an institution intends to give them the best possible chance of becoming a pro footballer whether this be at chelsea or somewhere else, that is the aim of the academy. it's about forging a pathway to professionalism for young prospects. as fans obviously our only agenda is for those players to graduate into chelsea first teamers but you have to remember our expectations as fans and the expectations of the clubs and the individual are different. even when graduates don't go on to have careers here but do elsewhere the academy takes great pride in it

you're correct - he plays the percentages too much i remember watching him at lille and while he wouldn't necessarily hog the ball, he was definitely willing to dribble more rather than play the pass. didnt always work out but when it did...oh boy. I think gradually over time, that side of his play has been coached out of him so he could be more of a team player. chelsea fans have often debated in the past on forums that hazard just needs to get 'aggressive' and be more 'selfish' - i just think that, that's not in his character right now and maybe if it was when he was younger, he's definitely changed since then.

perisic is quick and direct + has a high work rate. would work well with a player like fabregas where he can run into channels and hes also a decent crosser, to be honest, looking at our squad, we don't really have a player like him that can offer that type of threat (pedro would be the closest). wouldnt improve the quality of our squad however, besides being another number on the bench and we need to be targeting better players
