4 - 2 - 3 - 1 - The death of entertaining football?

How I long for the days of 4 - 3 - 3.

Everyone seems to be playing 4-2-3-1 these days and for the most part its making for some sh*t football to watch. 6 defenders and 4 attackers isn't going to inspire regular exciting football.

There was a time when I would sit and watch pretty much any match going on TV. Now I find I cannot sit and concentrate on most of it without getting mighty bored, finding other, more productive things to do!!

How good were we when we played 4-3-3?

2004/07

                    Cech

Ferreria Terry Carvalho Cole/Gallas

                     Maka

              Lamps    Essien

Robben                            Duff

                  Drogba

We could easily line up similar to this and it would give us a slightly different approach to what isn't working at the mo:

                  Courtois (when fit)

Dave    Terry  Cahill  Rahman

                  Matic

            Oscar  Fabregas

Willian/Pedro      Hazard

                  Diego

I'm either getting fed up with Football or it's just really really boring now. I can't rememer the last game i watched that was really entertaining or full of top quality football.

United vs City yesterday summed up football right now, really dull. 2 sides afraid of losing and making mistakes all over the field.

Footballs been on the decline for a long time now. Sure there will never be a greater moment than that night in Munich but in all honesty the last time I was entertained was 2010. It wasn't just because we won the title under Carlo with magnificent football, the standard of teams was better and even then it had taken a dip from a few seasons previous. As much as I loved seeing us win the title last season I have to be honest and say whilst I was I to the season I don't remember many matches been great. Go back to 2010 I can name a fair few games that didn't involve Chelsea that were highly entertaining. Standards have dropped and the level of player isn't what it once was.

I actually long for the late 90s that was football at its best IMO, there wasn't any of this lets tactically set up like this yada yada it was just about playing football, or so it seemed that way. I think football does peak from time to time in this country, 1999 it did and in 2008 it did.

I've been very nostalgic with football for the last couple of years. I miss the days when there were top strikers galore, and when players weren't judged so heavily on their stats.

It all seems very robotic these days. I'm turning 30 and the best years for me were probably between 98 and 08.

I get more joy out of Sunday league these days.
