A great result for the 'Gers today. Needed that after the game against Hearts.

@Boyne yeah we needed that. didn't see any of it today as I was transfixed by Chelsea at City. Clint Hill is making a bit of a habit of picking up red cards...

It'd be great to finish the year with a win over Celtic but it'll be a massive shock if Rangers can pull it off. Brenda is full of confidence and rightly so I'm afraid, it doesn't look as though anyone can really trouble them at the minute. Still, with Ibrox in full voice, a big atmosphere and a bit of heart, Rangers might just do it.

Not confident one bit for this one, have my ticket and all ready get to go for tomorrow. I'd happily take a draw

I've a feeling it could be a painful afternoon too @Chelsbear....let's hope we're both wrong

Would be great if the 'Gers were to win tomorrow and finish the year in style. Will try and watch the first-half before heading to the Bridge. Two of my cousins are going to the game. Ibrox will be bouncing tomorrow. Before the game there will be a minute's silence to remember the 66. Absent friends.

I hope someone at Rangers has a clear plan for strengthening the team for next season. The question I can't answer at the moment is whether Warburton has taken them as far as he can or whether he needs a player upgrade here and there?

Frankie Lampard on the tv tonight saying how if he is to play again it has to be the right choice - if it's not Chelsea why not give the Gers a go Frank??

Anyway - no match this weekend thanks to the winter break, which given that we are having the mildest winter for decades seems a total waste of time.

Will be interesting to see where Frank goes. Was at the friendly at Ibrox and Frank got a great reception when he went over to take corners. Atmosphere at the game was brilliant. Sunday's game against RB Leipzig will be a good test of the 'Gers progress.

Well the trip to Germany exposed a few flaws and today we're back in action v Motherwell in the Cups.

This season has been pretty flat. Winning the Cup could give the club something momentum going into next season but to achieve that either Rangers or someone else will have to take out Celtic. That's a challenge as they look well ahead of everyone. A giant killing surprise might be the only hope.

Agree, winning the cup would give them momentum for next season. If they did play Celtic in the tournament hopefully a repeat of the performance in the semi-final last season.

This squad just lacks any spark or power.

Agree. They are like a mirror image of Scottish football generally. There are big challenges ahead for the Rangers board.

Thomas Buffel's wife passed away last night.

He was a classy footballer and played in what was a great Rangers side. Very sorry to hear of his loss.

Thank you, Carrickblue.

A little bit older now, but still a classy footballer. A gentleman football player. Our captain.

You find an article on my topic.

Watched the game at Hearts but had to give up after the 'Gers conceded the fourth goal. Four very soft goals. A great goal from Hyndham. A good buy and was surprised when he was substituted. Barrie McKay has lost some of his spark.

And if the result wasn't bad watched the game on BT Sport and had to listen to the inane comments from that w**ker Chris Sutton. How on earth he has a job as a pundit is beyond me.

@Boyne It seems that being a w**ker is an essential qualification!

Another poor result at home to Ross County yesterday.  We have not beaten them all season which is a poor state in itself.

Warburtons win rate now stands at 50%. sitting third in the table with Aberdeen having a game in hand while only taking 4 away points out of 30 against the top 4 sides in 18 months...

any thoughts on a successor?

No mate I'm really not sure where we go from here manager wise. Not any options really when you think about it and whoever comes in is going to need investment which at the minute is pretty sparse. I like Warburton but it just doesn't seem to be working anymore

I feel exactly the same. It just looks like he has taken it as far as he can. We need to find someone who can pull together a decent side from a group of fairly average players.

Here's a few suggestions (not based on any insight or rumour!) Henning Berg currently managing in Hungary; Gary Rowett? or Michael Laudrup currently in Qatar....
