sorry Ersk and Boyne, but back in the day as a kid that kit would bring me out in a cold sweat, but as I have aged and matured and have no hatred  for the Scottish team these days, I have to say that is a classic kit!

@chi blueno worries. I had one of the shirts back in the day. I was very passionate about the Scotland team back in the day but nowadays find it very difficult to get excited about international football. I think that there are a number of people who can't get excited about international football.

I was born in South to an English mother and a Scottish father and started following the Scotland team. My friends and family including my Dad were bemused why I supported Scotland. Possibly due to my parents rubbing Scotch whisky on my gums when I was teething! I still drink whisky after many many years!

chi blue.No problem. I really liked the England ‘admiral kit ‘ when it came out in 1975. I had it as did quite a lot of my friends.
Seriously,it was very popular in certain areas of the West of Scotland amongst youngsters. This was when the Scotland v England rivalry was at it’s peak. Certainly from a Scotland viewpoint.

Agreed, both were and still are classic kits.

I find it hard to even watch international football. Unless it’s the European Championship or the World Cup

I honestly have no interest in it. I just want our players to get through these games not injured.

I have many English relatives,  so the England v Scotland ‘rivalry’ has never been an issue to me.

Zidane scoring for Real Madrid v Bayer Leverkusen in the 2002 Champions League Final at Hampden. The atmosphere in Glasgow City Centre in the few days leading up to this Final was amazing.

I watched the game in a pub in East Kilbride. I was up there with work. If I remember correctly one of the teams stayed in a hotel just outside East Kilbride.

Some fine players in the picture. A good team as well. Bomber and Jaws in central defence.

Agreed.England had a good team out that day too. Probably my favourite Scotland win v England.

Very true. Todd and McFarland played for England. For me, two defenders who were ahead of their time.

As today is Shrove Tuesday a picture of one of the many games played on this day. A bit of a free for all and often resulting in bad injuries. Could top flight footballers cope in such games?!

The Final was played before an official attendance of 100,000 and there were brothers in direct opposition.
John ‘Jock’  Shaw of Rangers and Davie Shaw of Hibs.

Looks like Bud is going to win the race to get to the ball.

On this morning's sports report on BBC Radio 4 Sheffield United's manager Chris Wilder and club fan Michael Palin were interviewed about the team's current performances in the Premier League. During the interview, a clip from the Ripping Yarns episode Golden Gordon was broadcast. Golden Gordon is one of my favourite comedy moments so here's the full episode. I'm sure that many of us can relate to Gordon's passion for his team.

He usually won the race against most defenders!

Think he raced in some of the Borders Professional Sprints when he was a young Rangers player.
