The closest any Scotland player got to him that night !😀

Indeed. And Scotland had the temerity of scoring first with Narey's great goal. To think that next year will be the 40th anniversary. Where have all the years gone?!

Remember someone saying after the game. ‘Only Scotland could score their consolation goal first!’😀

Think Souness himself said that ‘Brazil just strolled through that game. Going up and down the gears when it suited them.’

Indeed mate, where have all those years gone...

Gordon McQueen. 30 caps and 5 goals for Scotland. Here with Brazil's Luis Pereira at the Maracanã in June 1977.  Sad news recently,Gordon now suffering from vascular dementia.

Very sad news about Gordon. A fine defender. Let's hope that footballers and other sports people don't have to suffer dementia in the future.

The game from 1977 is one of my favourites. A great Scotland side.

Boyne:Cheers for posting that.🍻

@erskblue You're welcome. On Facebook there is a forum called the Rangers Archives. Some great photos and pictures. It's where I got the pictures from.

The great man would have been 65 today. Sadly missed.

Scottish Soccer Rangers #682691 Framed Prints, Wall Art, Posters

Remember a great story by Ally McCoist about getting ‘put in his place’ by Davie Cooper.

Rangers were playing Falkirk away in autumn 1986. Cooper was having one of those games, turning the Falkirk defence inside out.

So he went on another mazy run beating four or five Falkirk defenders, drawing the keeper and rolling it for the unmarked McCoist to tap in.

McCoist went on a celebration run, as it was his hat trick. Cooper jogged back and caught up with McCoist back on the half way line.

”Was the Mitre Logo, the right way up for you Ally ?” Cooper asked.

A suddenly embarrassed McCoist admitted it was and thanked him.  Cooper just nodded and gave him a wry grin.😀
