A great picture of Hampden Park. It has changed considerably over the years. My Grand-Father was at Hampden for a Scotland v England match when there was 150,000 in the ground and to think it now holds 52,000. strider6004

Agreed, the roof covering the west terracing was not long built when this picture was taken.
Boyne
A few hard cases here. Team is based not far from where I live and is the oldest football team in London. Founded in about 1860. ozboy

Was at Hampden in 1989 for the Scottish Cup Final between Rangers and Celtic. I went with an uncle and cousin. Sadly, Rangers lost 1-0. If I remember correctly, Ray Wilkins was injured so couldn't play. The attendance was 72,000. I was there again in 1992 when Rangers beat Aidrie 2-1 and the attendance was 44,000. Shows how much had changed in three years. There is talk of the capacity of Ibrox being increased so Hampden could end up as being the third largest ground in Glasgow. erskblue
The above photo was taken at Craven Cottage in Sept 65. To be fair it could have been taken at any football ground, until the building of all seated stadium and could still be taken at many non Premiership Grounds. erskblue
The introduction of all seated stadiums has made a difference to the comfort of the football supporter. Helps if they put a roof on though ! ozboy and Boyne

Strange to think that one year we had snow in June and the following year we had a very hot summer. 1976 was so hot that the Labour Government of the time appointed a Minister of Drought as there was a severe shortage of water.
