June 9, 20179 yr No real issues with foreign fans as such. Had a lovely chat with an American fella the other month after the City game in one of the bars. He seemed really knowledgeable and really passionate about the club. On the other hand; few years back we played Cardiff in the FA Cup and i had a little Chinese lady sitting next to me. She cheered when we went 1-0 up, fair enough. However she also cheered when Cardiff equalised...

He once called me out on it as I live in Ireland but I politely reminded him I'm a Chelsea fan from London who is a current season ticket holder and has been for over 15 years, he proceeded to block me and that was the end of it... That's sad, he obviously has a chip on his shoulder. He's the head of the fan approval committee, self appointed apparently haha.

June 9, 20179 yr No issues really so long as you're not in a half and half scarf taking photos every throw in...
June 9, 20179 yr What a great topic this turned out to be - hearing snippets of people's personal stories and anecdotes. Come on the Blues!
June 13, 20179 yr Hi guys, I'm new here. I've been a Chelsea fan for more than a decade now although I'm from Israel. Personally, I have never encountered antagonism from local fans, even when I went to the game against Maccabi Tel Aviv and sat at the Chelsea sector. As an abroad fan, I am forced to pay crazy money for tickets. My last game was the FA cup final, I paid almost 300 pounds for the sh*ttiest seat in the house (enjoyed every second even though we played poorly and lost, and sang my heart out). Also, of course I need to travel and miss a few days work... If you love this club it doesn't matter where you from, I don't consider myself a lesser fan and locals who think they are better fans because they were born near a football pitch, well, they can fu*k off. Cheers.
June 16, 20179 yr This thread has warmed my heart, I love you guys. Me being a foreign Chelsea fan has always been an issue for other people wherever I mention it, except on here where I was welcomed with open arms. Coming from a small country, of course I support my local club, but when I saw Gronkjaer's goal against Monaco there was an instant click in my head and the next thing I know I'm following Chelsea's games. That quickly grew into a passion and I consider myself a real supporter, as real as they come. As for the going to games 'issue', that is a goal of mine which I hope to reach and fulfill as soon as possible. Tears of joy, tears of happiness, sacrificing other things to support the club, you name it - I've been through it all as a CFC fan. Sorry for the mini rant, I felt like I had to get that off my chest. I hope none of you guys take offence because there's not a single letter of this post that is meant to do that.
June 16, 20179 yr I am Chelsea supporter from Bosnia and Herzegovina, been one since the 1999. People usually regard any foreign Chelsea fan as a plastic one, but i was never moved much by that. Everyone who knows me since junior high know that i've always been a blue. Obviously i wasn't there "when we were sh*t" (not old enough) but i am also a pre Roman supporter. My simple advice for the foreign fans, you don't need respect from other people to know what you are. I am respected among our supporters and my friends and it is more than good enough for me, could care less what some mong says about my support or Chelsea.
June 16, 20179 yr I like everyone welcome foreign fans and a big club needs foreign fans, it's also nice for different cultures to come together over football, I have nephews in Canada all hardcore chelsea fans now because of watching games with me when I was over there, what am I going to tell them you aren't proper fans? But if I'm really really honest, a fan from London who has supported the team pre Roman will always feel himself in a bit of a different type of fan, not a superiority thing but I mean it's a culture thing, I grew up in West London and I admit it's hard sometimes arguing with an American fan for example over chelsea, especially if they are giving it, I have to bite my tongue not to pull the local card, I suppose it's human nature, I'm just being as candid as possible because the question has been asked before but without a doubt we welcome foreign fans and I don't think many of us look down on foreign fans at all, except japanese corporate guests maybe, even if somewhere in the back of our minds we feel more like "authentic fans" could be the case an American is more passionate and knows more about Chelsea than me, but your local club is your local club it is a bit different if we are completely honest but you cant tell people who is and who isnt allowed to like something, if you like chelsea you like chelsea what difference does it make what people think.
June 17, 20179 yr I absolutely love foreign fans! As a Chelsea fan before the money came in, it makes me proud to see how much this club has grown. I'll never forget going to Cairo and just as you get to the top of the hill to see the pyramids in eyeshot, there was a little Egyptian boy just standing with his back to me and a Drogba jersey on. Also when in a taxi a bike steamed past with a boy on the back with his 2011 Lampard shirt on. It was so striking, imagine there being so much smog making the town almost colourless only to see that striking blue waltz past. I felt so proud.
June 17, 20179 yr Also I cant stand when plastic foreign fans are blamed for the atmosphere. I've been to enough games myself in the MH with not a foreign fan in site yet these grown men dont sing.
