Good ideas with the plugins @cRyptic but I think it is sorted. When they upgraded to a later database and after importing the dump, they added the new database to the config, without taking off the old one  this confused everything and looked at two databases when submitting or viewing posts. If there is double posts to the extent as before, then it will need looking at again, but, I think it's sorted for now.

I'm still going through the server taking off old stuff, just to clear it up a bit.

Nope.

On my iPhone I'm getting one of those pops ups where it says you've won something and it redirects you to this dodgy page.

There was a period of that last year and I took off anything that could cause it, weird it’s started again.

Munky, this was obviously created specially for you!

Just reporting that double and triple posts have been happening again for the past week or two with greater frequency from day to day. 

Also, I had an ad cover half my screen and follow my scrolling so it practically made the site unusable on my phone (Chrome on Android). Happened a few times, if it happens again I'll make sure to screenshot it.

Cheers @cRyptic I think I’ve sorted the ads so that should be ok now. The double posting I’ll look into again.
