Hope you've enjoyed 'walking back down memory lane' with this thread.

I certainly have, it's brought back some great memories of that season,

(Perhaps I'll do 1984/85 next season as a follow up, just a thought !)

Yes Ersk, really appreciate you putting all this on been great, and also everyone's memories, and as for doing the following season?  "You know it makes sense Rodney. Can't wait till August and THAT game at Highbury!!!

Yes the end of that great season again!! Been going through my programmes for that season, a couple missing for some reason. Few away tickets for games that cash on the day as not allowed. Well done Ersk been great sharing stories, maybe we could meet at the Bridge one day to catchup.

Yeah it kinda does to do a follow up of 1984/85 to that season. They link almost seamlessly , to me anyway.

That Game at Highbury in late August, looking forward to it myself.

Glad you enjoyed that season memory lane

Yeah I know. I thought 29, 541  ?

No way !

Was at that game i think one of nevin's goals was a trip round the keeper if memory serves. Was a black player on the Barnsley team who copped it big time from some bloke in the benches. No need to say what I thought of him.

Having withdrawl symptoms re this thread !

Just having a look through music charts and 'Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now' by The Smiths was No 10 in early June 1984.:oldboy:

Could apply to Arsenal and Spuds supporters at the moment !!

Couldn't resist:biggrin:

Remember how frustrating it was waiting for pre season, waiting for the fixtures to come out. Then counting down the days until that hot Saturday morning in North London!

Remember visiting my grandparents in Horsham that summer, and by the station there's a big  bridge with iron walled sides which goes over the railway line, daubed on the side of the bridge in huge painted letters was Chelsea Div 1  1984, it was there for years, remember going past it in about 1990 and the faded letters still there.

I've just looked myself at the top 20 for June 84, Wham, Frankie, Spandau ballet, Madness, Nick Kershaw, Bannanarama,  The Smiths, Elton, Phil Collins, Sister sledge, Michael Jackson, etc etc, I think I need to get out more!! As my family say, I still live in the 80's!!!
