Bought some white Kickers recently. Still wear Clarks Dessies- really crap shop and they're only things in there remotely wearable. I believe they pattoned the design from the 8th Army ( Desert Rats)

PS White trainers still popular at football I see. gotta be 20 plus years now. Bit chavvy IMO

There are some nice white trainers about I bought these after seeing Weller wearing them. I know what you mean though the chavvy look of 2003 era Burberry Cap, Nicholson t or polo shirt grey tracksuit bottoms (which I wouldn't wear in the house) and Reebok classics white. Chavs only go to Sports Direct and when their flushed TK Maxx which are all seconds cause my mate used to deliver to them.

There's a programme on Casuals on Amazon Prime is surprisingly good especially as it's part written and produced by Cass Pennant. Lots of Adidas porn on it some quality trainers from the 80's on show. But what I found slightly sad and hate to say it is go back to the 80's all Londoners had London accents not this weird way of talking they have now.

I think casual at Chelsea caught fire very quickly at the start of 82/83 Season. I don't remember it being called casual for about another year maybe. Turned up at my cousins after the Wolves home game midweek early on 82/83 with standard uniform of Lois jeans, Stan Smiths and plain Pringle and she said ' Look at you, you're a proper little jazz funker'

That was the first time I remember Gate 13 getting going also.

I would agree with that bought my first Pringle at the start of the 82 season I even bought some fabric conditioner for it.  I bought a Slazenger jumper in 1980 I think I was also wearing Adidas Hawaii so casual was always about Farah's were worn by soul boys at first but I used to wear them to school I also had a Fred Perry jumper and polo. First sort of sportswear I bought not Chelsea related although probably my mum got it for me or I asked for it was a light blue Adidas California t-shirt in 1977 I also had a pair of Gola Aztec I think the were called trainers. Good to see Nick Nacks in Soho mentioned in the documentary mentioned I used to work near there in 83/84.

I'll have to catch the doc'. I think there was a big difference between the Northern and London look. Scousers were big on rare trainers and hooded jackets which I don't remember down here. Funnily enough I relocated to Jersey recently which is loaded with Liverpudlians ( and Glaswigans) and I often see fellas in their late 50's and even early 60s bowling around with those coats - bit like that Pete Hooton collective The Farm. sh*t look if you ask me.

Hooton narrates it and he's interviewed but he's full of sh*t. Scousers might well have had all the gear but they never travelled down to the Bridge or anywhere in London wearing it they would never have been able to afford both clobber and train travel. Londoners soon moved on to Burberry and Aquascutum, Armani etc.

Scary to think that if you were to buy a Pringle and a Slazenger jumper and a pair of these would cost you about 600 quid now. I would say when I bought them Slazenger jumper 15, Pringle 20 and trainers 25 over forty years ago wow !

Honestly can't remember how much it cost or where I bought it although I do remember buying the fabric conditioner but it wasn't that much. My first job when I left school in 82 I got forty quid wages used to pay 3.50 in NI there was no way I spent a week's wages on it as they got more popular I would imagine the price went up.

First pair of white trainers going from right to left I've got a pair Country green stripes not sure what colour they are in this pic. Incidentally they are the same pair Eddie Murphy wore in Beverley Hills Cop.

Never had Jam Shoes but a goof few kids at school did including the youth club dance troupe who got to the finals of the National Disco Dancing Championship.

One of this lot later swapped his Jam Shoes (black and white ones) for a budgerigar cage, which made me laugh.

When I think of spats Dingwalls on a Sunday afternoon springs to mind- fantastic mostly black dancers wearing polished spats with beer towells tucked into trousers to wipe the sweat sweat off.
