August 20, 20205 yr Our supposed interest in him is mentioned in the Lewis Dunk thread but I keep hearing good things anout this player and I wondered if those who watch the Championship regularly could shed some light how good/r not he really is. Did well on loan at Leeds last season and they're trying to sign him permanently from Brighton, but no luck so far. https://talksport.com/football/748229/leeds-third-bid-brighton-ben-white-chelsea-liverpool/ Judging by the Youtube compilations he seems calm and assured on the ball, solid technical ability both in tackles and passing. Is he really that good or is it just another flavour of the month? He also doesn't seem particularly tall for a CB, but that doesn't necessarily mean he's poor in the air. Has anyone seen him enough to suggest him as a good option to replace, say, Christensen? Edited August 20, 20205 yr by abramovich
August 20, 20205 yr With his skill and tackling ability you wonder if his long-term position will be at fullback instead. Reminds me of Azpilicueta in that glorious season he had playing as a CB. Unfortunately (and confirmed by a Leeds-supporting mate) he has little aerial presence, which our defence is sorely lacking.
August 20, 20205 yr Lampard and the Brexit XI coming into full force. Chilwell, Pope, Henderson, Stones, Dunk and now White. Throw in Mount as well..... I wonder who's next?

August 20, 20205 yr Think Ben White will be one of the best center backs in the league in a few years time. Perhaps not as good as Van Dijk but certainly as good as Cahill at his best. Brighton have rejected 25m so he won’t be cheap.

August 20, 20205 yr What about Marc Guehi though. Does he play in the centre or at left back. Looks a real prospect from what I saw last season
January 5, 20215 yr If some have there way on here he'll get Ben White when he manages Brighton pretty soon
January 6, 20215 yr The ship has sailed, now he’s signed that massive new contract, Brighton can pull silly numbers out of the hat, before that... we could have potentially done a Cahill fee-wise & caliber wise but this ones done, very naive guy, could have held on to his lesser deal and engineered a move to a top club.
