Maddisons’ been sh*t in 2024

Very good early in the season (as the whole team was). Injured (against us), and has struggled since (as the whole team has).

Look we still have a sh**load of improvement. More than half the first team was missing and despite that we have troubled every team in the league other than Arsenal and Liverpool.

This current squad is just about two players short of doing great things.

Even without anyone else if you want to assume Nkunku and Fofana get back to full fitness I reckon we'd be challenging. Add in Lavia and a fully fit Enzo ....

You could say we need a real rock centre back and another striker and it would be hard to argue  but, i'd be happy to go into next season with the same squad if they were all fit.

I'd like to see a solid CB, maybe Todibo or someone. I have strong Paul Elliott vibes about the way Fofana is going, I still don't really rate Badiashile and Disasi, and I am just not convinced that Poch and his team have the perception to see James as a right sided CB that can invert into DM. So a solid CB please.

I would like a centre forward with real presence. Doesn't have to be totally elite but needs to own it. Sesko, Dovbyk, perhaps. I think Jackson offers more coming from the left and I am just so tired of hoping this is the day that Mudryk eventually turns up.

I have said it before and been panned but I'm going for it again. I said about Rabiot as a free last season and after his one year extension he is up for free again this summer. As a senior professional that has played at the highest level with much experience, his guidance and experienced presence in a central midfield position, he could really help the younger players, doing the dog work and as a talker. Rabiot or not, that type of player in and around this group could be good for us.
