I think that after the tragedy that staircases were altered so that you couldn't walk straight down anymore. Altered so that the single long staircases were divided up into a  series of shorter lengths .

They certainly removed the concrete embedded thick wooden ‘railway sleepers at either side of Stairway 13. These had prevented people from escaping the fatal crush on 2nd Jan 1971.  You are correct about the division into shorter lengths on the stairways.
The Centenary Stand was built to stop the large volume of spectators arriving at one time  at the top of the staircases at the Copland Road end

A defender who was a generation ahead of his time. Fast, skilful had a great reading of the game and was a good tackler.

At his peak, he would be worth an absolute fortune in today’s transfer market.

January 1976. Derek Parlane had broken his collar bone in the previous game against Hibs at Easter Road in November 1975.

This was his comeback game and goal. Rangers won 2-0.

Blimey! I've looked for ages for pictures of Chelsea games with those blue disability cars parked at the shed end, only to see em parked up in Scotland ! They were a regular feature back in the day.

The Rising Sun: Just found and posted a photo of a blue disability car at The Bridge in the Vintage Thread.😀
