Chelsea Women v Barcelona Women (WCL 2nd Leg) Sun 27th April 2025 14:00 GMT

Featured Replies

Well looks like Barca have improved from last season and we have gotten a lot, lot worse.

Questions should now begin to be raised about Sonia. She was brought in for us to go a step further than Emma managed. A tough ask, but she has won this competition before.

Domestic success is one thing, we are levels ahead of any English side, but we need that CL trophy.

Just like Celtic, too good for the domestic league but no where good enough for the CL

What a load of bo**ocks. We‘re in the semi finals & Barca team are miles ahead of anyone else.

It’s her first season, she’s shown she’s a good manager who’s hopefully learnt a few things about how to operate. Unless Emma wants to come back she’s easily earned a second season.

That’s true. Given our domestic dominance, could you imagine how crazy the WSL would be if we’re were at or above Barcelona’s level?

And what do we need to do to get to their level? Is it simply chequebook time? We have had some injury issues this year which haven’t helped, but they unfortunately seem to be part and part and parcel of the women’s game.

Not saying she does not deserve a second season. Just that, ultimately she needs to land the CL or those questions need to be asked.

One thing losing to this Barca side. Another getting thumped.

I mean just having Sam back should be a massive upgrade but a few upgrades too.

I think Sonia got some things wrong for these games too but if she learns from it and goes at it differently next year (we’ll have to play barca at some point won’t we) that can only be a good thing.

I think we need to be more clinical for starters, we need a lot of chances to score in a lot of our games.

Similar to the men's team we rely on very few players that can score and when they're not at it we struggle.

Our passing in the last 3rd isn't at Barca's or even Arsenal's level IMO, we can be very sloppy on the ball at times.

I still say Sonia has done a very good job in her first season though, especially if we win the treble.

Like i said, No different from Celtic, how many European trophies in the womens game? How many teams in the womens super league? Easy to win the super league every season because most of the teams are poor, no different to the Scottish PL,

It’s not easy to win the WSL though, the last few seasons it’s gone down to the wire. If it wasn’t for the absolutely monumental performance against Bristol city to not only wipe out cities goal difference advantage but completely surpass it three games before the end of the season and then demolish a very good Man Utd side 6-0 in the final game the trophy would be in Manchester right now.

Even the great Emma Hayes managed to lose out of a few domestic trophies last season against what you’re wrongfully dismissing as poorer opposition.
