26/27 Season Expectations

Think I feel we're a bit overhyped, I don't like our balance.

Points wise think if we hit 80 points that is a big success considering the lack of CL.

We haven't hit 80 points since the season when Conte won the league. In fact we haven't even come close since then ... best of 74 in 21/22. Under BlueCo we've never even reached 70.

I'd love to think it was possible, but I just can't see that level of consistency happening with this current squad.

Hope I am wrong, but I think we might have even gone backwards in quality terms this window ...

I’m going to go for something slightly different.

We’ll do a double over one of Arsenal or City.

Welbeck will become a cult hero, popping up with late crucial goals several times.

Palestra will be respected as one of the best wing backs in the world

Estevao will have a breakthrough season and get 20+ G/A

Enzo Fernandez will be benched by Reggie Watson, who will become one of the first names for the midfielder role

Jordan Henderson will play a grand total of 130 minutes in all competitions

Morgan Rogers will have a good impact but not as big as some might have hoped for

Top 2. Win a cup.

Enzo and Caicedo are damn good passer, Wharton has to be fabregas level player if you want to improve over those two

Wharton is a better passer under pressure than either of these two.

Enzo is only a good passer if he has 20 seconds to trap the ball and look up.

We hit 69 points under Maresca's first season, and he had his hand in sabotaging that 2nd half of the season. We also had the annoyance of the Conference League to deal with.

Look at the context this year.

  • Liverpool and City have weakened.

  • United haven't improved their defence and now have Europe to deal with (sticking with Carrick too)

  • Newcastle and Villa have been picked apart.

  • Bournemouth, Sunderland, Palace, and Brighton are in Europe this season.

I stand by that above 70 points should be the absolute bare minimum, but we realistically should be pushing upwards to 80.

My expectations for this season are never a dull moment with long periods of frustration interrupted by short days of absolute joy. Or in other words another season of LDN Chelsea FC.

My hope is Xabi can at least bring us top 4 come next May but it's only a hope not an expectation.
