Hero in a Half-hat!!!!

I think it is time that proper praise was given to Petr Cech.

Every year at awards ceremonies awards 99% of the time go to either an attacking player or a skipper.

Yet here we have a man who to my mind is a street ahead of his nearest rival for the title of 'Best Keeper in the the World'. Buffon is next best, and sure he is a fine keeper. But would any of us swap him for 'Chubby Cech-er'...Nahhhh!

So here is your chance. Make us all proud and write in praise of the world's number one. A man who survived a fractured skull to come back and stabilise us last season.

Our very own. hero in a half-hat!

PETR CECH!!!!

Firstly, yes , Cech is ace. Best Chelsea keeper ive ever seen.

But in regards to the 'hat'.

Ok, im sure im gonna get slaughtered for this but does anyone else think there is just the slighest possibilty that he doesnt need it and Jose tells him to wear it so it might help refs side with him in a busy, bustling penatly box?

I mean dont get me wrong im not belittling the injury whatsoever but surely if there were any doubts at all about his head, he simply wouldnt be allowed to play.

I dont know, i could be wrong - but we all know by now how TSO plys his trade!!

Cech was on SSnews about this a month or so back. Doc says to keep wearing and the situation will be reviewed at years end.

If the doc says wear it, you should wear it!

Going to make my self MASSIVLY unpopular now.... probably more so. But he's not the best keeper ive ever seen.

IMO peter shmichle was the greatest there ever was and likely to be, chec is a very close second but schmicle (or how ever its bloody well spealt) performed miricals of the highest order in between the posts on many occations.

Still second best is not bad and cirtainly the best plying his trade at present time

I don't think I have seen a better keeper at such a young age. When you consider that most keepers don't reach their peak until they are 30 then he has the chance to become one of the best of all time.

I'd go with Barak and say that Schmeichel (yes, I did look up the spelling!) is the best I've ever seen. I don't really remember too much of Banks but Shilton was outstanding. To think he won the number of caps he did after sharing the position with Clemence is pretty impressive. (Carjacker take note - there was someone who really had a reason to go off in a huff). Despite a pornstar haircut and moustache and being a gooner, Seaman was a top keeper too.

Even with the blue specs on im afriad.... as a young keeper there wasnt a lot to aspire to chealse wise, beasent, grodas, hitchcock, kahrine. some ok some gave ya the wobbles... untill big Ed came along alwasy a position we just could not get right!!

The great dane on the other hand was and is one of my all time non chelsea hero's.

He was the same age more or less as petr was when he came on to the sceane in 1991 and was instantly ammazing.

I can see loz with his finger hovering over the big red ban button now....
