bonetti Posted August 16, 2007 Posted August 16, 2007 Hopefully poetic justice for mugging the ref last weekend
Guest Brian M Posted August 16, 2007 Posted August 16, 2007 Sergey, while I'm sure we all admire your enthusiasm for posts about up-coming matches, the way you're adding up the matches takes me back to my school days! 'Week 3'? And after we only kicked off five days ago, and all!

'Week 3'? And after we only kicked off five days ago, and all! Good comment! But, wait a minute..... how does it called? `Day 3` `Round 3` ?? I was sure it called `Week` .......Tell me the right choice and I will apply it.........no problem Last season it was the following: Chelsea vs spuds vs Manure Suck my d**k pompeys 15th Jan Ar*e again I just don`t like it and I`ve made a decision to select an united format!
Gem Posted August 16, 2007 Posted August 16, 2007 6 points out of 6, he can post them as he likes not that I'm superstitious

'Week 3'? And after we only kicked off five days ago, and all! Good comment! But, wait a minute..... how does it called? `Day 3` `Round 3` ??! 'Match 3' should do it, mate. Or if you really fancy getting technical: EPL Match 3. As there are only 38 of those, even you and I should be able to add them up correctly!
lauren Posted August 16, 2007 Posted August 16, 2007 Match by match is more correct as there are weeks when we will play more than one match (like this week). Anyway, whatever, long as we keep winning.
sergeyMS Posted August 16, 2007 Author Posted August 16, 2007 No, wait a minute again...... There`s an official name..... not `match` that`s for sure. It`s a `week` indeed!!!! E.g. In CL there are `days` - `Day 1` `Day2` `Day3` In doesn`t means teams are playing every day, but that`s an official name. Brian, I`m starting to think you`re absolutely wrong. And it`s you who is guilty for this large off-topic!! (But Loz will makes you feel it )
Guest Brian M Posted August 16, 2007 Posted August 16, 2007 Brian, I`m starting to think you`re absolutely wrong. Wouldn't be the first time. And five'll get you ten it won't be the last. So, good luck to you! I look forward to adding up all the weeks in the year, via the Sergey calendar. No doubt soon to replace the Gregorian...
loz Posted August 16, 2007 Posted August 16, 2007 Call them what you like mate - only pedantic pirates care about these things!! 'The State vs Liverpool 3' has a certain familiar ring to it for this upcoming game.

I should call it `week` until we lost, hopefully we should have 38 weeks..... Enough, this sh**ty talks about nothing. Better let`s curse Gerrard. So preliminary it`s: .............Terry.........Ben-Haim Johnson.................................Cole ...................Obi Mikel.................... .........J.Cole................Lampard........ SWP/Kalou............................Malouda ....................Drogba...................... I can see 4-4-2 anywhere, even let it be Old Trafford, but not Anfield, especially with Gerrard. It seems we would be unable to control the game, we would play counter-attacks. That`s why I want J.Cole in the middle to add creativity and flair, because Maka&Mikel pair would be too slow. And I can`t see any benefits of this partnership, can be used in extreme cases only. And Joey is sitting on the bench for 2 matches, his a*se is so tired I think.
ethicalstrategy Posted August 16, 2007 Posted August 16, 2007 ....Or if you really fancy getting technical: EPL Match 3. No such thing as the EPL. A bit like Soccer - it just doesn't exist It's only our overseas bretheren who use such descriptions. I believe the technical terms should be Premier League (or Barclays Premier League to be pedantic - Yes, I know I am being) and Football! (Sorry - just one of those things that irritates me way beyond any rational explanation!)

Sofa Manager Posted August 16, 2007 Posted August 16, 2007 This Gerrard thing...it's bluff. He's gonna play.
g3.7 Posted August 16, 2007 Posted August 16, 2007 I'll go with a 433/ 451 aswell. .............................................cech paulo................ben haim.....................terry................cash ...........................................maka ........................essien........................lamps .....swp..........................................................malouda ..........................................drogba subs: carlo johnno mikel joe cole pizarro I think the side pretty much picks itself (mikel more likely, but I couldn't) leave maka out of the big games, but we could see things like essien at rightback, maybe alves will be our player by then (I wouldn't play him anyway)... joe cole is a bit unfortunate, but malouda and swp have been playing very well, so he has to wait. I think this is the game where he'll get some time on the pitch though. I'll take a point from this game- 3 would be great, but a point here would be a good one.
loz Posted August 16, 2007 Posted August 16, 2007 JOe has a bit of an evil eye over Liverpool - I wouldn't be surprised to see him play.
sergeyMS Posted August 16, 2007 Author Posted August 16, 2007 Oh! I had a feeling I forget a player in the middle - Essien!!! Though possibly he could miss the Anfield too...

Riise always creates problems for us and Benitez has better players than Coppel so i think Jose's biggest headache will be how to organise the right side of defence. I wouldn't rule out using Essien there again but it's also a possibility that SWP and Essien will rotate helping Paulo out. I also think that Mikel's presence is very important, he settles the midfield down and brings the balance to our whole setup. .............................................cech essien(?)................ben haim.....................terry................ashley ...........................................maka ........................mikel........................lamps .....swp..........................................................malouda ..........................................drogba subs: carlo sidwell paulo joe cole pizarro

I hope not, or if he does he gets help as you suggest. Mikel is also important because he can really help calm down the midfield. And of all the midfield combinations in the PL I would say aside from ours it would be Liverpool's that is one of the strongest. I wonder if Lord Steven "I will take a free kick here now ref" Gerrard will be well enough to take part? Bloody well hope not, especially if Essien is injured - if we have one big loss I don't see why they can't suffer one to even up the score.
sergeyMS Posted August 16, 2007 Author Posted August 16, 2007 On the 1st page of this topic post about Gerrard is automatically updated............. Gerrard passes fit for Liverpool against Chelsea, injection should be made and then he would rest in friendly against Germany, what means Lampard would play this fu**ing friendly...... Smarty scourcers............
Scott Posted August 16, 2007 Posted August 16, 2007 according to "He will train and play against Chelsea but he will not be able to join up with England. I will talk to Steve McClaren and I am sure he will understand." What's Spanish for bull sh*t?

ozboy Posted August 16, 2007 Posted August 16, 2007 So who is injured in defence/midfield for this match? On my count maybe Riccy,Essien, Terry all out. Its a risk in any event playing Terry in such a big game with no match fitness. If all wer fit I think the best back 4 we could field is: Essien Carvalho Terry Cole However I could also see Carvalho playing on the right with Ben Haim and Terry in the centre, Carvalho is fast enough for that. In the midfield: SWP, Mikel Lampard Malouda and up front its Kalou and Drogs.
loz Posted August 16, 2007 Posted August 16, 2007 I suspect Terry won't be playing which may mean we see Alex make his debut alongside Ben Haim, hardly ideal for such a big game. If that is the case then I sincerely hope Maka plays and Ferriera is selected ahead of Johnson.
TomP Posted August 16, 2007 Posted August 16, 2007 Agree with g4's team - although, I think that JM really does have a lot of faith in Mikel - especially in his ability to control a game. So I would expect him to start ahead of Maka (who I think is very much seen as a backup player by JM these days). The rest of the team picks itself - other than at right-back, Paulo should get the nod ahead of Johnno for his defensive qualities. I can't agree with anyone who wants to start Essien at right-back. Against big(ger) sides, if we dominate the midfield, we will control the game - and Essien is the man who needs to do this. Alonzo, Gerrard and Mascherano are a lot more of a threat to us - if they are shut down, then the likes of Riise won't get a sniff. Maybe if we need a goal, and Paolo isn't getting forward enough on the right flank, then we could move Essien there later in the match as an attacking ploy - but starting him there is crazyness.
