Peep
So now QPR and Man City have acquired their own sugar daddies, and Newcastle rumoured to be joining them, with an Indian billionaire twice as rich as Roman now showing interest, perhaps the media will climb off our backs and stop blaming Chelsea for everything from the rising price of a loaf of bread (£1.25 in my local shop...scandalous!) to the increase in knife crime. My only concern is that Peter Kenyon is probably only slightly more media-friendly than Gary Glitter at this point in time (a remarkable achievement for an alleged PR colossus) and we need to assign him a desk job in Siberia asap. Maybe we should really flog our souls and bring in the furry Max Clifford, "PR man to the stars". Then the players can all go round hugging kids in hospices to their waxed chests and pontificating on world peace. My own hope is that we quietly go about our business and bring through Academy players, like Kakuta and Tajera, rather than waste time spreading our legs for galacticos. This should get the media boys on our side and make us a club to be admired again, rather than despised. Well, I can dream!
Mr Chelsea
stop blaming Chelsea for everything from the rising price of a loaf of bread (£1.25 in my local shop...scandalous!) not chelsea but its peter kenyons fault qpr are going nowhere newcastle will probably be almost relegated by the time someone decided they want to manage them, and the jan transfer window opens man citys plans to buy anyone who can kick a ball will end up in them losing more than they win the media are welcome to them
High Street Ken
DOH!! I've just realised that the original post here from "Peep" was actually mine. He's my stepdad and I've been using his PC whilst I'm holidaying at his house, which automatically logged me in as him without me noticing! Not sure if a moderator can switch the original post to me instead.

geezer
A united fan said to me " expect petty hatred and jealousy now" I think the media have always had it in for us though I can already see the press starting to get their digs in to 'Comical Ali' et al. At least when Roman came over there was an enigma as no one knew anything about him or what to expect. Just over 5 years later and still no one has really heard from him in earnest whereas your new boys seem to be somewhat more upfront hence the early digs. Expect a lot more especially from opposition fans who will really start to display their jealousy. You'll get none from me though, it makes a change for someone else to take the 'trying to buy it all' lines.
Tim
Yeah agree Geezer, the City owner does seem keen to be the public face of the club, and that will always cause problems, particularly as he is not a 'football man' so is likely to come out with some major gaffs. And as long as we get the 3 points on Sat, I agree wholeheartedly that I would like to see City upset a few applecarts this season, starting with the red double (United and Pool). Nibs
I think the media have always had it in for us though Can't agree with that. Man City are one in a number of clubs that are kinda classed as peoples "second favourite team" - if there is such a thing. I have a soft spot for City and I know quite a few others do too. Newcastle fall in the same bracket and we used to. Lot of other fans used to have a soft spot for CFC, because of the 60's/70's glamour, the fact we were a decent size club with fanatical support etc. But the other factor was that we would never really threaten the "big boys". So we always had a chance of a cup run and we might beat Liverpool, Leeds or Man Utd now and again, but they knew we would never actually challenge their supremecy. That's why the Kop used to clap us of the pitch if ever we earnt a plucky draw up at Anfield - they wouldn't f**king do it now when we play them off the park!!! No, the money and the (if you're fortunate) resulting success changes all that. And I can understand that to be fair to other supporters. We all wanted an end to the monopoly of the "big clubs" and many were glad when we came along and started winning things. But the bad feeling soon followed and it's no wonder when, along with the success, come all the JCL's who jump on the band waggon. Like most neutrals wanted Newcastle to win the league that season they blew it against Man Utd. But if they had won it and then followed that with some more big signings and more success, neutrals would soon have got fed up with Newcastle, just as they are now fed up with us. I guess it's a fact of life that if you have sh*t loads of money and are successful, others will despise you. I blame Kenyon!!
Bridgeboy
I just hope we stop spending silly money on players we do not need and start bringing through some of these youngsters. Di Santo needs to be giving a bigger run out then on the 88th minute :o Where is Sinclair ?

And I think Di Santo will get a better run of games later on this season, I don't see him being entirely ready (but he is more promising then Anelka I must say). Bridgeboy
Thats what I mean where is he ? If he gets loaned out again this season someone is going to get a harsh letter   lol Sinclair has great pace and he should be given a run out at lets say Stoke instead of Malouda, what is the worst that can happen ? TheWestwayWonder
A united fan said to me " expect petty hatred and jealousy now" I think the media have always had it in for us though You better get used to it, fella. The press seem to be all over City right away, and have totally forgotten about Chelsea. Which is, of course, great from my perspective. Hopefully you never find yourself having to justify yourself and your fanship to internet numpties, but I wouldnt bet against it. As if those tosser dipper, manc or gooner fans chose "charity cases" for their clubs to support

Plavi26
That's Sahar. Sinclair's not been loaned out (yet). Hopefully he'll get a few chances this season, especially with no new signings up front, and SWP, Sheva and Pizarro gone. Oops...should have checked before posting. I don't think Scolari will use him much yet, maybe on the strech he will. We want to set the pace and distance ourselves from opposition, I don't think we will risk playing the youngsters too much. What I don't understand, like mentionned, why don't we use the youngsters on dead games.
TheWestwayWonder
Yeah, being accused of being a glory hunter by Man Utd, Arsenal and Liverpool fans is pretty annoying considering we were just about mid-table when I started supporting Chelsea. Its particularly rich in America. There is a whole lot of Gooner fans over here, and get this: they beleive somehow that their following Arsenal makes their fandom "legit" because its not Man United. And somehow, that makes them real, and Man United/Chelsea fans plastic. Pathetic. Ditto for Dipper fans. I started following Chelsea for some pretty frivolous reasons, but seven years, a closet full of kits and scarves, and a $100/month cable subscription later, I like to think ive paid my dues to some degree. At least as much as a foreigner can. Most of these people still think On-rey still plays for the gooners. Usually oh so minor details like that give them away when they open their mouth. Scott
Don't get me started on the plastic US gooner 'fans'. Just mention George Graham and watch them get that far away look in their eyes cause they don't have a freakin clue as to his connection to The Arsenal. I need a drink .............
