clubhappy
Whats the ultimate pop single? A song that can make you just stop whatever you're doing when it comes on? A song that no matter how many times you've heard it, it still makes you feel good. Im talking about pop songs that no matter what gerne of music it is, regardless of wheather you like the artist or not, songs that you dont get tired of hearing. And keep it pop. Heres a few i still enjoy. Good Vibrations...Beech Boys. Wouldnt it be nice...Beech Boys Dancing Queen....Abba [ A Classic] Never gonna give you up....Rick Astley Downtown....Petula Clarke Rush hour...Jane Weidlen Gold...Spandau Ballet Girls on film...Duran Duran Come up and see me , make me smile...Cockney Rebel La isla bonita...Madonna Theres loads more but off the top of my head these come to mind immediately. loz
Not quite what you asked clubber but a similar theme. I was in the car a few weeks ago and hopping through the radio channels and I heard a song that I haven't heard for many many years and although I wouldn't say it was the ultimate pop song I remember thinking that it probably epitomised the early to mid 80s more than any other song of its time (well by that I mean it epitomised them from the perspective of early teenagers, not for everyone!) It just tapped into the whole fascination British children had with the whole American teen lifestyle especially the whole brat pack thing. Tim W
Is this a cry for BlueBeard to post again? Pop as in popular music, then... For me to hear any sixities/seventies Motown is like shooting up a bottle Jack. A few bars from James Jamreson's bass can lift the heaviest of grey cloud. loz
Quite hard to do this as there are many bands like The Kinks, Stones, Beatles and a whole load of Motown acts that have songs that could easily be classified as pop but if I start to think about them then I would be here forever! So I have tried to eliminate all artists along those lines. Some I would put on the list are: King Fu Fighting - Carl Douglas Good Vibrations - The Beach Boys Dreadlock Holiday - 10cc Happy Hour- Housemartins Louie Louie - The Kingsmen I Want you Back - Jackson 5 There She Goes- The Las

Maksimov
Life Begins at the Hop - XTC Ooo...good choice. For some reason this never fails to put me in a good mood: It has to be because of all the memories it brings back. I used to see the video on the telly often when I was a kid. :)
sweet waffle
I reckon it's got to be Aztec Camera - Somewhere in my Heart. Also special mention for Van Halen - Jump Edited September 26, 2008 by sweet waffle
Maksimov
Another one that brings back a lot of happy memories: Always makes me smile when I see the video or hear it on the radio. Not sure if I'd like it quite as much if it was relased today, as it's not all that much about the song itself(more about thefond memories), but it seems I'll never get tired of hearing it. Not that I hear it very often nowadays, though.
