Posted December 17, 200816 yr So in this prestigious era of ours we have won everything except the Champions League. Does anyone else feel that maybe the seasons we have left battling for all four trophies are perhaps numbered? I'm not saying this because of our recent blip in form, but because, seemingly, with the credit crunch and other factors RA has kinda lost interest in us? I just think that in 10 years time we will be back to the Chelsea of 10 years ago, battling for Europe or trying to earn a respectable top 10 position - with winning the CL well out of sight. This era of Chelsea players NEED to win the CL before they are sold or retired - this era, as in the likes of JT, Lamps, Joe Cole, Cech, Carlo, Carvalho, Drogba, Essien, Bridge etc etc, the ones who have been with us through our recent CL journeys. So with time disappearing fast, we need to win the CL either this season or next and perhaps we could get away with winning it the year after - but by then alot of the players above will have gone and this 'Jose team' will have disappeared bar a few exceptions. I will die a happy man if we win the CL this season or next, we need to make the most of the opportunity we have to win the trophy because as each year passes we are losing a year of this era and possibly losing another year of RA's limited investment. Thoughts?
December 17, 200816 yr No. My sole ambition now is to start winning our home matches, nothing fancy. Hallelujah yeah ! e2a: Premier league first, Champions league the following year as champions. Edited December 17, 200816 yr by coco
December 17, 200816 yr Not wanting to sound un-ambitious but doing the double over Tottenham each season keeps me happy
December 17, 200816 yr Author Not wanting to sound un-ambitious but doing the double over Tottenham each season keeps me happy Of course, but after all the pain we've been through in the CL and espicially our current crop of players it feels like we need to win the CL to just take the pressure off. December 17, 200816 yr in 1997 we won the fa cup something that also looked likely in 1992 and 1994... we became champions in 2005 and 2006 thinking in the vialli years our best changes had past us by. in 2007 we should have won the cl but if RA leaves and someone else steps in..who knows. One thing with chelsea is that things often happen unexpected and a little later then we all believed it should have happened.
December 17, 200816 yr I would like to win the CL but it pales into insignificance in comparison to winning the Premiership. Maybe once we, and if, we get to a stage where we have won the Premiership say 5 or 6 times over an 8 or 9 year period then I may prioritise the CL just once however until we have that level of domestic domination the CL will always be a poor second to the domestic title.
December 17, 200816 yr Right now i'd just like to win a game at stamford bridge!! But yeah, the CL would be amazing to win. Just dont see it happening this year!!!!! You know me, 4EVERGLOOMANDDOOM
December 17, 200816 yr Im desperate to win something this season, even it is just a FA cup. Another fruitless season will be unbearable, and we will get another manager next season :D CL would be great, although I dont see how we can pass the next round with our current groupe of players an form. If I have a choice, I rather have the league title.

Fair enough, but my point is what if we don't have 8 or 9 years left at sustaining this level of success? What if we only have 2 or 3 years before we start losing out on CL places (for whatever reason) and in 10 years time we'll all be regretting these missed chances in the CL even more. We need to win the CL while we can, so firstly we can all tell our kids/grankids about what we were doing that day and secondly so Liverpool and United will stop rubbing it in our faces. I know it's a pessimistic point of view, but I think some of us are taking the success for granted, assuming it's going to be a long term thing now (which it might), but what if it isn't?
December 18, 200816 yr No. My sole ambition now is to start winning our home matches, nothing fancy. how nice that would be we're just experience a few technical difficulties at the moment, theres leaves on the line, it will be sorted asap and we appologise for any delays

Would you stop supporting Chelsea if we didn't win it ? Would you stop going to games if we did a dirty Leeds and ended up in Div 2 ? Would you ask your kids/grandkids to support someone else who might win something ? I doubt a lot of people would answer Yes to any of the above . Wouldn't bother me to be looking forward to a top of the table clash with Rotheram on Saturday in the hope of promotion. To be honest you can stick channel chelsea , chelsea credit cards and the chelsea megastore up your arse .I am only intrested in the football and my fellow fans who would turn up with me 42 points is the aim for me each and every season to avoid relegation . Anything , Anything else on top of that is bonus .
December 18, 200816 yr Premiership for me every time. CL will come, probably when least expected. We have reached at least the semi's every year bar one. No other team can match that in recent years.

Anything , Anything else on top of that is bonus . Wow, retard. People seem to jump on peoples back at the first moment they want success these days. What I am saying is that eventually in my life, I'm 17, Chelsea will be in dark times and be fighting relegation from numerous leagues - so what I'm saying, which I've reposted a good few times now, is that I want to make the most of this era and win the CL before we slip away from it. Sometimes I wish we would go back to the old 'sh*t' days, where tickets were cheaper, there was more passion in the stadium and a 1-1 draw with West Ham was just as pleasing for us as it is for the pikeys. I'm 17 and have been a fan since 1999, when I was taken to my first game at the age of 7, so I have been lucky enough to experience the good days with Chelsea but I am more than prepared to carry on the support when (and it is when and not if) we slide down the leagues/table. Sorry if you weren't implying that I only support Chelsea cause we have a chance at winning the CL, it makes my blood boil when I think people are thinking of me as a bandwagen rider.
December 18, 200816 yr Seriously, can we stop the name calling please, it is So unnecessary, and a bit embarrassing when people who've only been around a few weeks start having a pop at long time regulars. Chelsea Lad, obviously all opinions are valid, but insults are not and are very, very pointless. We're all Chelsea after all, whatever our thoughts on the team/players/tactics etc. Carefree!
December 18, 200816 yr Wow, retard. Consider this the only time you will get away with that sort of thing on here.
December 18, 200816 yr Ahhh ... losing the league title is much much much more painful to me! I can live camly with Real, Barca, Inter (yes even Jose Mourinho) winning the CL. But if WE are NOT winning the league most probably it will be caught by Mancs, scum and the gooners and this makes me MAD!

Tbh, I'm not embarassed to disagree with someone who has been around longer or got more posts. Consider this the only time you will get away with that sort of thing on here. Sorry, didn't realise that sort of talk wasn't allowed on here after all we are all grown men who shout taboo every Saturday afternoon...
December 18, 200816 yr No mate, it's just really, really childish and undermines any decent point you might be making.

December 19, 200816 yr Certainly not! A word of advise to Chelsea Lad: try and figure out ;) instead of getting on your high horse....

It obviously got lost in translation but I wasn’t implying you were a JCL or gloryboy at all . From my viewpoint the Champions League in it’s present format is just a UEFA cash cow, marketing wet dream for elitist clubs in Europe , a glorified FA Cup for Europe . I was obviously gutted we didn’t win it last year but wouldn’t lose any sleep if we never won it . It is not top of my must have lists to be honest but understand if it is a must have for you As Tim said no need for name calling it just lowers the tone and content on here and p*ss’s people off . Plenty of other sites around where it goes on but I am sure you will agree it gets a bit boring and tedious trawling through 35 posts of insults until you find one worth reading which is why this site works in that it is frowned on . Plenty of room for debate and disagreement which is the whole purpose of this site everyone has an opinion and it is up to you to decide if you agree or not and respond just don’t make it personal Anyway look forward to buying you a beer in Rome !

December 20, 200816 yr It would be fantastic if we won the CL but to be honest I would rather win back the Premiership title. The reason being that it will demonstrate to the rest of the English football community that we can win it without Jose Mourinho. That and the fact that I would hate it if either Liverpool or Manchester United won the Premiership this season.
