In isolation it’s a crazy fee. But looking at the market now, it’s almost the premier league norm (Anderson, Tonali, Mateus Fernandes). By our own standards, I prefer this to 50M plus on Gittens, Neto, Mudryk, plus the countless others we can throw into that conversation. Premier league proven, good mentality, dynamic, physical player. Pretty sure a number are still to leave, so a smaller, focused, higher quality squad is good for me.

Are we even interested? Both Palestra and Rogers were done quick smart without anyone knowing. Perhaps the other players we are linked with are just media noise.

There is this, as well as now we have shown we had this sort of money so the concern is have we blown all we have on one player when we need 2 quality center back additions, a top class keeper and a new top partner for Caicedo?

Imagine an Australian being more optimistic/right about this England team than all you sorry English. There are only two things that should be gleaned from this game; Kane's England days are finished, and Gusto's footballing days should be finished if he can't even perform in this televised open training session. Gabriel injured, Saliba injured, Hincapie injured, Rice knackered, Saka on the way to the knackery, Madueke starting. Arsenal won't make the CL next season.

I do like Rogers, but I also understand the concerns. If he was signed for £60-70m, I don't think people would be as worried, but £117m is a hell of a lot of money for one player. For that money, I want Palmer levels when he is at his best, and Rogers hasn't shown close to those levels yet.

Never really been impressed by him. When the news broke I was shocked, then after being reminded about City’s former youth team, and the Joe Shields links + the dodgy gentlemen’s agreement we have/had with Villa previously, so most likely they’ll sign Jackson or someone off us. Then it takes away the shock a little. For that fee, you need someone who scores goals.. for which his record is poor. It’s really concerning, can’t see any balance in the squad, nor has this solved our key problems. God I hope he proves me wrong.
