  4. It’s certainly Colwill’s last chance to show us he should be the partner for Lacroix. If he doesn’t improve his game massively at some point this season I can see us going after another CB next summer. It feels harsh to criticise Colwill this early in the season with him having been out for a year, but I am very disappointed with what I’ve seen so far.
  5. Disagree, Barco frequently passes forwards.

  7. We haven't beaten them away since December 2021 when we scored twice in the last ten minutes (own goal + Jorginho penalty) to beat them in the League Cup. Another great BlueCo record. Thank God Tottenham are dogsh*t or Eghbali's head would be on a pike.

  9. Belongs in a midfield 3, he's short ginger Jorginho with a better engine
  10. We are so sh*t in squad building that he gets free rein to a starting spot.

  17. They are soft. Do they even do the extra work outside of mandatory team practices and drills?
  18. I think it's still understandable that he played the 3CBs today given that it was up against Hull and it's still early in the season so we can at least test out chemistry and figure out who can be depended on and who doesn't. It stings, but these are the grind we have to go through and we're currently on 7 out of 12pts so it's not too bad with the only game lost against Arse. This too with our best midfielder and our RWB injured The SD f**ked us on not having a proper midfield and leaving the squad with so many defenders that are on the verge of either good or sh*t (Colwill, Hato, Fofana, Acheampong, Trev etc.) instead of immediately getting 2 solid 8/10 CBs outright
  19. He's right, they are soft. They lose most duels, can't seem to ever clear the ball from a set piece. They never dig in for the points. The slightest set back sends them in freefall.
  20. Fully agree he got the backline badly wrong today and when you add in having both James and Gusto in midfield he has to take a lot of the blame for both the result and the performance.
  21. For the first time in what seems forever ref actually awards a penalty against Arsenal for wrestling players to the group and Sunderland go and miss it. And now they're down.
  22. Sunderland miss a pen and Arsenal score a minute later ffs
  23. Fair enough. Not calling for him to be benched right now, but his overall performances is a little concerning to me so a few games coming on from the bench might not be a bad thing. Thats all
  24. Carlisle Utd drew 2-2 with Southend Utd at home today. They opened the scoring early on, then Southend equalised and went ahead in 90+2 minutes. Carlisle then equalised in the 90+6 minute. Carlisle are currently 12th in the National League. They face Forest Green at home on Tuesday. St Etienne 100% start to the season ended today. They went down 2-1 away to Dunkerque. St Etienne remain top of Ligue 2. They travel away again next Saturday. This time to play Metz.
  25. I agree, not much talent in defense, but as you said Lacroix and Josh are probably the best two CBs of the lot and both were on the bench so still think Alonso should hold some blame. I'm still very much a fan of his and hope he succeeds, but something needs to improve in defense and quick.
  26. That simply isn't the case though. We have just had the fourth league game, the world cup players had a shortened pre season and a number had the upheaval of moving club to a new set up. For the first five games of the season we need to bring the core please up to peak fitness levels. Additionally because we have been leaking goals Alonso and his team will be looking at combinations defensively, whether on a back 3 or traditional 2 CBs. So far the combinations are still not working. From what I have seen, and it is far from ideal, the most effective defenders have been Lacroix, Fofana and Acheampong. But he has to get the others up to speed in case of injuries. The bigger issue is the defensive midfield positions and what this period has highlighted is that come the winter window we need to be selective in isolated the elite players in midfield and CB and go in hard and get them. No more speculating on dross until we have shifted the remaining dead wood
  27. The West Ham Stadium existed between 1928 and 1972.This photo was taken in 1950. The stadium was designed by the famous football stadium designer Archibald Leitch. Archibald Leitch was responsible for the design of most of the major football stadiums in Britain at the time. There was a large two tier stand accommodating 80,000 spectators with a smaller stand able to hold a further 20,000 bringing the capacity for the stadium up to 100,000. The greyhound track was the largest in Great Britain, with a circumference of 562 yards and 123-yard straights! To fill the stadium on weekends a football team called Thames Association FC was founded. After two years in the Southern Football League, Thames were elected to the Football League Third Division South in 1930. The stadium could hold 120,000, but Thames shared a catchment area with Charlton, Orient, Millwall and West Ham United. So the club had difficulty attracting crowds and created the lowest recorded attendance in Football League history when just 469 people turned up to watch Thames take on Luton Town on 6 December 1930. Thames only stayed two seasons in the football league, coming 20th and 22nd out of 22 teams during their brief stay. They resigned from the Football League in May 1932 after finishing bottom and were dissolved soon afterwards. They were replaced by Aldershot in 1933.
  28. Today

  29. Problem is that it is bloody hard to deternine who should be the regular back line. I would have Lacroix as a certain. Then probably Acheampong. After that you are starting to throw the gamble dice in terms of who will have the next howler.
  30. Wasn't Rosenior routinely throwing players under the bus when everything went south? The points dropped today are entirely on Alonso and his tinkering with the back line for no reason.
