  1. He won the league for Genk and is a huge reason Athletico have been a force in recent seasons, meanwhile Cech has made crucial errors no more than tonight -
  2. After tonight and the performance of the kid yesterday it is a no brainer. Raise a glass to the new born king.
  3. Torres sulked from the moment we showed our interest and that was long before the window opened. Not forgetting he was on the downward spiral and Suarez was on the upward at a fraction of the price.
  4. Why should this be put in another thread? This has had a serious effect on our Premiership assault this season, with Sturridge in our line up it would have left us in a stronger position up front and we would see Liverpool many points behind us. We would have secured results where we have dropped points as Jose knows too well the reason we will not be Champions this year but might be next is because we have one decent striker in Eto'o and the other two wouldn't even improve Tottenham.
  5. Watching them today they look like champions you have to say that we have given them on a plate the new SAS but I fear unlike the Blackburn version we have gifted them on a plate a strike force to dominate the Premiership goal scoring charts for the next five years. How we could have done with Sturridge this season.
  6. In his last season at Vitesse he scored 31 goals in 30 league games, we were linked with the player before he signed for Swansea not surprising given our links with the team in question. He has had a decent first season in the Premiership and has scored a brace against Man City and despite an injury where he missed 5 weeks of football has scored 20 plus goals in all competitions. His goals to games ratio is right up there with the best, 105 in 203 and has the touch and presence of Didier Drogba at the same age.
  7. What is it about these Belgians dictaing to us. First it was De Bruyne then Courtois now Lukaku. Why don't they openly say they want to prove themselves to Mourinho and give him no choice but to give them a chance in our first eleven. It seems to me younger players these days have no passion or fight to play for the big sides and are more concerned of getting playing time in Lukaku's and De Bruyne's case at teams with no chance of playing Champions League and challenging for domestic titles. Look at Man City for example, 3 top strikers and you never hear Dzeko moan when he is not in the side. A clued up player will realise playing for a top club involves you in double the matches of an Everton or Wolfsborg in a season. Lukaku and Courtois should want to return to Chelsea, train hard and take the opportunity to impress. We need both players in our squad too, let's not forget that and it is also up to Jose to make that clear to the players granted. We also know, like Ferguson, Mourinho will bomb out players without desire and the mental strength to contribute to the cause, that should be in the agents and players minds too before they start playing games with us.
  8. Rehearsal draw Barcelona v PSG Chelsea v Real Madrid Dortmund v Man Utd Bayern v Athletico
  9. Mandzukic and Costa are Mourinho type players and Eto'o has done enough to secure a one year deal should Jose decide to send Lukaku out for another loan spell.
  10. Dave is the best full back in the world in my opinion. I am hoping we play Real Madrid at some stage this season and he will be tested to the max by Bale and Ronaldo. I see him as our long term right back and Shaw as our left back. One thing for sure he was a snip at 7 million and one of our best buys of the Roman era.
  11. I clearly remember Liverpool playing hardball over Chelsea's bid for Torres and the club made it clear to him he could not leave until a replacement striker was made. That striker was Suarez and he was never going to partner Torres - the partner was indeed Carrol hope that clears it up for everyone confused by a lot of postings about the matter. There were plenty of dippers bragging Suarez was a better buy than Torres at the time and sadly for once they have been proven right. Wasn't their MD a Chelsea fan too if I remember correctly ?
  12. Alan Shearer in the Sun today absolutely slaughtering Torres and defending Jose's actions at Villa. He believes Torres has lost a yard and a half of pace and his composure in front of goal and is finished.
  13. To clear one thing up ... Suarez did indeed sign with the Torres money, guess the memory of a few on here is clouded in the dipper mist. He signed in the same January in 2011 for Liverpool and when we signed Fernando. He was his direct replacement.
  14. and when we loaned them Moses it gave Sterling the kick up the jacksie he needed ...
  15. The clue is in my user name but I heard today that David will sign for Barcelona and the money will be used to purchase Costa from Athletico Madrid to ensure we keep within the fair play rules.
  16. Last saw Pudsey away at Leeds ...
  17. We all loved the guy, remember getting late in for this game and getting turfed out the Rotherham end.
  18. Balotelli is a clinical goal scorer, plus he brings outstanding footwork that could bode well in linking up with the likes of Hazard and Oscar. Eto’o and Torres seem to struggle some when they are isolated up top, but Balotelli would be able to do the job naturally. Balotelli would be able to hold up play and very much suit the counter attack style by Jose Mourinho. If there is anybody that can possibly get the best of Balotelli week in week out, I would put my money on Mourinho to be that man. As for Shaw, I believe it is between us and Man Utd, of course you got your wish with Zouma!
  19. I cannot understand the so called 'Chelsea fans' on this site who continue to show their negativity to our side and dare I say it Jose reading between the lines. The guy who compares Shurrle with Kalou will surely be eating a bit of humble pie along with the downbeat majority at half time who should have kept quiet like Joses' teamtalk at ht.
  20. I am puzzled by comments on this particular game. The ground for a start is the most hostile in the Champions League and seasoned pro's have been affected by it in the past let alone a team clearly on a learning curve as ourselves. The time must be to look on the positives not the negative of the transformation from first to second half. Mourinho cannot be blamed in any shape or form as we had enough opportunities on the counter in the first half to put the tie to bed. Mancini was forced to change personnel and formation in the second half which balanced things. Other English sides have failed and lost 2-0 and all of them face almost an impossible route to the last eight. As Chelsea fans what do we want ? We now have a home game with an away goal and as Jose says if our fans can give 10 per cent of the support their fans gave last night we have a bigger chance of getting through. My guess is those on here criticising our performance are likely to be in the mindset of the johhny come lately's who might shuffle in their seats when things get tough in the return match.
  21. Brazil's NO 10 and still a young player adapting to playing in the Premiership in a newly organised side with Jose demanding an all action game- give the kid a break -.he will be our diamond along with Hazard for years to come - quality !!!
  22. City have United, Arsenal, Liverpool and Everton away ... if we had all those - every single one of us would be saying our league chances are over. Trust in Jose, make no mistake JT's goal yesterday was the most crucial this weekend. Clean sheets and digging out results at the back end of the season are always key. Arsenal, City or Liverpool do not take me as sides who will grind out an away victory like we can.
  23. I got the feeling the FA Cup was way down the list of our priorities. The guys just didn't seem up for it, given City are still in contention for the quad pot of trophies and Jose is worried Liverpool's fixture list and lack of Champions League football could harm us in the Premier League. I am not saying we 'threw the game' but the desire and passion we showed against City in our last two games simply was not there throughout the game. Maybe the exertions of two victories over them showed, lets not forget they are a strong class team who will give Barcelona problems for sure midweek. Only Cahill for me, had a good game, we miss the leadership of JT and Luiz is no Centre Back and we were well beaten, that sums up the game for me. Everton becomes a huge game now, we must win and I suppose this is where Jose and the boys must stand up and be counted.
  24. Lampard always plays well against West Ham. I feel his experience showed when he came on, on another day he would have buried his chance late on. For me there is no point of a holding midfielder when a side put ten men behind the ball and are no threat on the counter. Mikel or Matic shouldn't have appeared second half. Lampard and Ramires breaking behind the magical three would have opened them up in my humble opinion.
  25. The pocket rocket and the spider what a pair of signings ...
