Chillwell offers a lot, but I don't think he's very good with the ball at his feet. It would be interesting to see how Maatsen looks starting at LB. Very unlikely to see it anytime soon given Chilwell is now captain, but I think we need a bit more from wide areas as we don't really have much creativity in the middle of the pitch.

It seems maybe that if we play with Lavia, Enzo, Caicedo, we can maybe go more gung-ho in attack with Mudryk, Jackson, Madueke/Sterling.

Yeah, he was pretty much unplayable in the second half. A few little drag-backs/tricks to completely drop his marker(s) in midfield. We just need to find that same level of composure in the final third. Such a shame Nkunku got injured.

I agree with all of the above, I really don't think we should be considering selling him at this point (and if we do, it should be for around 60m IMO). I don't think he's 100% comfortable playing out from the back against a high-press, but the defensive side of his game was superb yesterday. Caicedo, Enzo, Gallagher would be a really strong midfield against the likes of City and Arsenal.

Expect a lot of "heavy metal" hoofball from Liverpool, considering they have 0 midfield. Also to see a lot of our attacks coming down the left from Chillwell on the counter. Hopefully James can step into midfield and help out there a bit. We have looked much fitter in pre-season, so I don't expect a pasting. Liverpool have thrown out a lot of attackers, but that back 5 looks very solid on paper.

Weird as we didn't see a 3-5-2/3-4-3 in pre season. Any chance it's Disasi CDM, 4-3-3/4-2-3-1? I'll be honest, don't really like the line-up. Then again, it looks like a good team to play on the counter against Liverpool's starting 11. Maybe Klopp expected us to match their system and went all guns blazing?

This is f**king hilarious. What's for certain is Brighton are the big winners here, dragging a massive fee out of firstly Liverpool and now us. Before today, the biggest bid was 80m from us. Based on what we know about the current owners, I think we'll match Liverpool's bid. Looks like lots of poker has been played this past week. We are linked with Kudus, Brighton want him, Tyler Adams looks set to sign, now Brighton also want. Liverpool want Lavia, we outbid them for Lavia, they outbid us for Caicedo... It's annoying to lose a dick swinging contest to both Liverpool and Brighton, but it's crazy money.

It will be very very funny if we sign both Lavia and Caicedo. As a few others have said, I wonder if this means we're thinking of doing with a 4-3-3. It would be nice to give Mudryk a run of games wide left without worry too much about his defensive contribution. This would also help James and Chilwell get more involved in the play. James, Silva, Colwill, Chilly Caicedo, Lavia, Enzo Sterling, Jackson, Mudryk Something like this? Maybe Lavia out for a number 10 against weaker teams?
