Official! Hippest Indie bands of the 80s, specifically 83-86
Oh my god! How did I miss this enthralling thread? Oh, I know, I had the "Do Not Display threads that are TOTAL bollocks" option selected in my profile! It must have been switched off when Loz and Mod were doing there nefarious fiddling around in the lower regions of the CSR, and suddenly, up pops this! With some VERY RARE exceptions, (All already listed by Bluebeard in his excellent summation) combining the words "music" and "the eighties" is referrred to in educated circles as "an oxymoron" By removing musical talent from the list of requirements for making hits singles and albums, the electronic, "I can make music on my Amstrad word-processor in my bedroom even though I have no ability whatsoever" movement are DIRECTLY responsible for James Blunt and the parlous state of music today. True musical genius comes from the 60's and (even more) from the 70's I know you will all instantly recognise the truth of this and stop all of this tosh right now. All I really have to say is "Chirpy Chirpy Cheep Cheep" - Quod Errat Demonstrandum Kev PS - No-one has mentioned in MIke's Original Post to start this nonsense! That SURELY must be put into the memorables section

Chelsea vs Norwich
and when he failed he always tried a dive I tought Robben suffered hugely from his press reputation. He went over easily a couple of times, but there were several ocassions when the nearest inbred just took him out and play was waved on! perhaps the referee had a handy copy of the Daily Mail in his back pocket for those situations! kev

Same old Arsenal... always cheating.
I've always said the Herny has a great game against the minor teams, but rarely turns up for the big time matches. He is sulky brat, with some silky skills, but with the temperament of a four-year old Kev

England vs Spain
OK - I'm agreeing and disagreeing with various people here about this 1. I'm with Bluebeard here - The freak is an embarrassment and was all over his marker EVERY time last night - I wouldn't pick him for a pub team. 2. Barton may well have showed more desire (displayed by kicking and running through people regardless of what colour shirt they were wearing) but has simply no talent or ability. Christ knows why he was even picked, other than perhaps a touch of Sweep-syndrome (looking goodish in a mediocre team)

Woody the Woodpecker
I voted no, but not for the inadequate musculature or whatever it is that means he is unable to play for huge amounts of the season. I voted no because a) He is vastly over-rated in my opinion B) He has a stupid haircut c) He's Leeds (scum) d) He's one of the ugliest muhfuhs in the world game (and that's saying something given some of the ugly bar stewards there are!), and e) He's nowhere near GEFC Kev

so then, the team for charlton
Can't lip read much but there was definitely a "f**king" in there. And also, did you all see the great run by Sheva afetr he had robbed the pikey muppet and passed to Frank? He was pointing where he wanted it and would have scored if he'd got the pass anyway I think! Kev

Carlo v Hilario???

Music cover versions - where the cover improves the original
THat's just reminded me of another track where a cover version improves on the original Even though CCR's Proud Mary is a cracking song, Ike and Tina took it and made it into a soul/R&B classic! Check it out if you don't know it http://youtube.com/watch?v=d1uPhj_T0X4 - In her later days or http://youtube.com/watch?v=hgLZh96mq3M when she was a lot younger (and uglier) Kev

Rovers at Home- Glory
Tosser Mchasbeen, the "pundit" on ESPN has been saying that Chels have been "iffy" 3-0 to the champions, and never REALLY in danger of conceding - the guy obviously has an agenda of his own!
