The thing is, I guarantee that Schurrle would have at least 8 or 9 goals in all comps if he had a regular position on the left wing. He has a good shot, he's pacy and would be excellent at cutting inside and getting a cross in. However, Hazard just can't be removed from the left, which means that schurrle on the right wing is always cutting in on his weaker foot and every touch is taking him backwards. He only seems to be effective when coming off the bench.

In my opinion we don't need to buy. If you have over £50 million paid for both Schurrle and willian they have to perform. They did it to a decent level last season but they simply haven't been good enough. The answer is to let them get out of the rut they are in and prove they deserve a place in the side.if they haven't by the end of the season then it's wise to invest money in someone like Reus.

Scott you're right but that's just not the way it works unfortunately. Refs will look at ivanovic and if he is touched in the slightest or properly fouled they will wave it away or book him, because he has the reputation now.

Although he only played 45 mins he was incredibly frustrating today. It seems every touch he takes goes straight back and he offers us nothing going forward. I do like the guy but it seems he is only effective as an impact sub.

Last year they weren't playing well at all under Hughes then they beat us, form really doesn't seem to matter when it comes to teams playing Chelsea. We need to win this because City will be level on points by the time we play.

Nah, just too difficult; would be amazing though. There'll be periods where we'll be playing Premier League on Saturday, Champions League on Wednesday, FA Cup on saturday and the team just doesn't have it in them to do that, such a massive ask. Plus, fixtures in the league could be pushed forward if we have to play the capital one cup final, meaning we'll have more league games to play in midweek.

He is a brilliant player to watch, any time a player is one on one against him you already know he's got it, it's been a while since we've had an enforcer in midfield who is just there to sweep up and not go forward all the time. We missed him quite a bit

But he has energy, he'll break up the play and put in a very good tackle. Plus, he actually goes forward, mikel's role isn't really supposed to involve much going forward but 2-1 down in extra time you need everyone to at least contribute in some way and he doesn't do it

It was an incredibly frustrating game to watch, and although I like Mikel it is absolutely baffling why he didn't pick ramires, was he injured or something becausenhe just adds so much more than mikel. The only time we worked the 21 year old goal keeper who played his last competitive game three years ago for Gateshead was the Costa effort and the time he had to punch it away. Even though we had over 25 shots it really didn't seem like it, we just don't seem to rifle a shot in on goal. We're constantly trying to walk the ball in and when you look at agueros goal against sunderland you just couldn't imagine our team doing that. When we were chasing the game costa was standing outside the box very confusingly and why hazard at around 35 minutes decides to switch to the right is absolutely baffling, the guy could be one of the best pĺayers in the world but he just isn't taking the chance.

Willian has to start, it would be very very confusing if he didnt after tuesday. If he didn't it would be one step forward two back for him

Newcastle away will be a much tougher game than this, I think with the quality we have we should win comfortably against Sunderland
