  1. If he's happy in that position I wouldn't mind seeing Diarra continue in that role. For the vast majority of the games he played there he looked to me like he had the makings of a very, very good right back. He certainly gave us a whole lot more going forward than PF ever has.
  2. almost as far as this just! fingers crossed this time next year we are on a flight back from there... I think I can see myself in that picture. ?10 for the first person who can spot a female.
  3. I have never been to Russia and would love to go. If it was to see the Mighty Blues in the CL final so much the better. Looking at the picture though, with the running track and all, the seating seems a long, long way from the pitch.
  4. It was great listening to all the bitter Mickeys talking on the radio today about where they need to go and how they aim to get there: "the moneys now available" "with the new ownership, ?40 million players are realistic targets. And they'll want to come." "we have to be looking at buying the very best in the world" Dear Lord. Anyone would think they'd be happy to buy the Title Guess istory isn't really as important as hard cash, (or the Yankee dollar), for many of them.
  5. Bluntly put, but I think a wholly warranted reply to a person who felt Benitez did well with his tactics and selection. And as for the comment that Rafa got the style of play right, the phrase, "you're havin a laugh" springs to mind. When, in the last two/three seasons, have you seen them play any other way in a big game?
  6. Post your messages of condolence for our resident armchair scouser here. I'll start with an oldie but a goldie: Merseyside Samaritans have issued an emergency helpline number for suicidal Mickeys. It is 0800 101010 That's 0800 won nothing, won nothing, won nothing. PS. Lofty sends his regards.
  7. Worst moment of the season?? Walking out of Anfield after the penalty shoot out and seeing the c*nts celebrating. Quite possibly my lowest point ever at football. Best Player performance of the season?? Yes, Essiens against Le Arse was quality, but I feel Drogba against Barca edges it. For best player performance against us, I thought Lennon and Berbatov were a right handful in the 3-3 draw at our place. Thank f*ck Jol took them off! Name ONE ground you visited for the first time, this season?? The new Wembley - Chelsea's second home. Best atmosphere you heard this season (On telly or at the game)?? Valencia away. Worst Player of the season?? Sheva. From a true giant of the game, (and a player I loved), to a man who looks a shadow of his former self. Roughed up and too easily handled by run-of-the-mill EPL defenders who wouldn't have got near him when he was in his prime. I pray he can come good. Best away trip (optional) Valencia. Excluding the FA Cup final your Champagne moment of the season?? Beating Rottenham at sh*te Fart Lane to knock them out of the cup. Something you have learn't this season?? I dislike Liverplod nearly as much as I hate Rottenham. Favourite goal of the season?? Drogba's against the Mickeys
  8. Well todays the day that the mousers hopefully, (please God), end their season with exactly what they deserve................... nothing. I have no alligence to any other team except Chelsea, but have always had a soft spot for AC Milan since the days of Gullit, Van Basten, Rijkaard, Baresi etc. They truly were a fantastic team. The San Siro is also the best ground I have been to on my travels and the Milan fans made us very welcome. The Mickeys, (and the British media), think waving scarves over their heads and singing YNWA equals the greatest spectacle in world football, but the reception the Milan ultras gave to Marcel Desailly on his return was different gravy. The word "awesome" hardly does it justice. I was also at the CL final at Old Trafford when AC beat Juve on penalties and their fans put on a spectacular show there as well. I'd take any victory for Milan, but if they could totally humilate Fat Rafa and the Mickeys I'd be the happiest boy alive. The idea of the scouse fans travelling all that way, and spending all that money to suffer the heartbreak of an embarassing, one-sided defeat fills me with joy. Forza Milan.
  9. Wayne Rooney. He would be the perfect partner for Drogba, and he is only going to get better.
  10. I wanted to see it again because from where I was sitting in the stadium at the time I thought Robben jumped over Brown as he slid in. Brown was quite rightly booked because the challenge was late and dangerous. But did he actually make contact with Robben? I'm still not sure he did having watched that clip.
  11. this is how you run a football team. I gave this article to Glory 55 the other week. I think many of you will find it interesting reading. http://observer.guardian.co.uk/sport/st ... 78,00.html
  12. Has anyone got a clip of "the tackle" ? I'd like to see it again.
  13. The Manc fans were giving it big time walking up Wembley Way before the game. They were doing that and singing "Chin Up Mourinho, chin up Mourinho". Needless to say they got it back in spades after the match. Incidentally, Robben tried the chin slapping thing and he is now out for at least a month with strained chin tendons. Best two songs I heard yesterday were: "Where's your double gone. Where's your double gone" - to the tune of Chirpy, chirpy cheep cheep. And current pop favourite "who's that coming over the hill is it a monster, is it a monster" was replaced with: "Who's that climbing off of your nan is it Wayne Rooney, is it Wayne Rooney"
  14. Totally right. If anyone thinks that was anything other than a foul on Cech they are mental. If it had been a european game a UEFA ref might have sent Giggs off for sliding in late on the keeper.
  15. Thought Mikel was our MOTM. Essien and Drogba were also top dollar. For them, Rooney caused us more problems than anyone else. His movement and timing of runs was superb. If we had him playing alongside Drogba we would be unstoppable.
  16. Gallas. His levels of consistency, (wherever he was played), over 5 years were astonishing. Plus pace to burn.
  17. Big mob of us getting the 9.30am train tomorrow. Breakfast in London and at the The Globe by 11:30.
  18. If we did have a new poll on RedRob, I'd vote he goes. He's already admitted he was on a wind up with his thread and that's enough for me. Join any major Liverplod forum and try posting something similar as a Chelsea fan. I dunno, say "Another 17 years, 256 days and 27 minutes until you win the Premier League". Or "Two things you'll never see together..... Steven Gerrard and a Premier League Winners Medal". You won't last very long.
  19. We are all different and I don't want to get into an argument about what constitutes "support". But again, if I may be totally honest G4, when you post after a defeat such as the Liverplod one, I don't feel your pain. I rarely get the feeling from your words that you are as devastated, heartbroken, gutted, angry (call it what you will), as most of the other regulars on here. Of course that may simply be down to your analytical style of writing, (or my wrong impression), but most of us have big pairs of blue tinted glasses on much of the time when it comes to defending Chelsea from criticisim. But with you I get the impression you have a small pair of light reflecting mirror glasses. I can never remember you moaning about a dodgy decision, getting narked about a ref, slagging rival fans etc. In truth, I think you're too impartial much of the time.
  20. To be fair G4, you did say once you never sing. And if I'm Being honest, I found that admission hard to reconcile with the concept of "support". But that's just me being old skool and you being East Stand I guess. As for Lofty and the bin dipper, my tuppenth sayeth........................ bring back Lofty. Sack the mouser. I had to laugh at the Mickey giving his personal reasons for not travelling to Greece though. Because for for all his regular bluster and oft repeated 'istory, I thought he'd be nailed on to go to Athens and watch his team in the final...................... make even more 'istory? But hey, that's probably just another example of why they're "the greatest fans on the planet" isn't it? And his reasons don't stand up to close scrutiny. A genuine Mickey would have nicked the car, pawned his daughter's engagement ring and been out in Athens a week ago. "greatest fans on the planet" - Copyright BBC 1984
  21. For all ST holders who haven't yet got a ticket. http://www.chelseafc.com/xxchelsea18070 ... _2209129_2 Worth keeping an eye if you're a member though, 'cos if any are unsold from this batch they will go to members.
  22. That's really all there is to say on this. It's not Drogba that's the problem. If we had a second striker to play alongside Drogs who had: A) The movement to get on the end of, (let's say eight times out of ten), balls played into feet. The body strength to hold possession when he had the ball and play in Drogba and other people around him. C) The pace to go past opponents on occaisions. We could perhaps then play a more fluent foward passing game. Any ideas on who we could get as the second striker ? Henry suggested Kevin Phillips. I still think that was a good shout.
