Done absolutely nothing to stake a claim as a starter, in fact I'd say he struggled massively against a poor team. He can't dribble, he's constantly falling over the ball, shooting is poor and is not very good at crossing. Genuinely wondering what someone saw in him to make him one of our main summer targets.

It's a difficult one but I'd keep him. We've managed to see a turn around in Reece James and even Fofana is managed fairly well so there is a pathway if we can somehow keep him fit. His wages are not astronomical and the fee we'd receive would make us look like idiots, if he can stay fit. Surely worth the gamble of keeping him and if he doesn't stay fit sell him in the last year of his contract for the same money we'd get now.

What was brought up? Hopefully Eghbali has ties to Venezuela and has been sanctioned so now clearlake is forced to sell.

Poor decision on the foul and hasn't looked the same player for number of weeks now. Could it be anything to do with him not having a decent rest for God knows how long now?

Give Estevao the game time now. Surely can't get any worse for the immediate future and long term will only benefit Estevao to become the player he is destined to be.

Good game last night. Some really good link up play and decent finish for the goal. Probably should have scored the chance he had a bit earlier but moving in the right direction.

There's rumours he walked and that's why he didn't get a pay out. Other rumours suggest exit clauses. Who knows what to believe anymore. The club is a sh*t show from top to bottom, with very few positives in between. I will obviously be giving my support to Liam and the team but I'm not filled with confidence one bit.

So is he actually banned for doping? I thought it was just a provisional ban a until they done an investigation? I remember with the Pogba one there were statements released giving information and length of ban which I don't recall happening with this.

What's everyone's take on this? Do we belive he is innocent and has been set up or is he guilty as charged? My view is that there is clearly some doubt somewhere as there has been a lack of official updates. Surely if he was caught he should have been hit with a ban instantly? Don't ever remember a case like this personally.

I think if it's a 3-4-3 formation the best option would be a Caicedo-Santos pairing. However I think the board won't be allowing a 100m signing to be sitting on the bench too often so I can easily see a pairing of Enzo-Caicedo. Could this work utilising Enzo as a deep lying playmaker? He wouldn't have to cover as much ground and would have protection behind with an extra CB. Either way I hope the team is picked on merit and not price tag.

I'd argue we only have one definitively better player in that position and that would be Palmer. Anyway I feel like we're starting to go round in circles a little bit now, I say he's not useless, you say he is. Thanks for sharing your opinion and hearing mine. At the end of the day we all want what's best for the team and only time will tell if that's with or without Enzo. Here's hoping for a great result on Wednesday against Fulham.

Whilst I respect you bringing stats to the table, the way Maresca has the team lining up he pushes forward into the left hand side 10 with normally the right full back inverting into a CM role. This is my main issue with the role Enzo plays, he's asked to push forward and crash the box in search of goals, the space often left behind him can lead to transitions/counters in the opposition favour. He just doesn't have the legs to be a box to box midfielder. But this has been a major part of my point all along, as fans we can see the weaknesses in his game but he is being asked week in, week out to perform a role he simply cannot do/ struggles with.

In your opinion, if we do play this formation what do you think it means for James? A permanent switch to midfield or a RCB role?

Going off goals and assists alone Enzo has 6 goals and 1 assist in 18 games (Premier League only) starting mainly in the 10 role (I don't have the exact stats from where he's started in the 10 vs in the pivot) . So if you scale up Joao Pedro's output in that position it's quite similar. Only major difference is one is expected to be covering all of the midfield (Enzo) and one isn't.

Completely agree here. The 3 cbs in my opinion should be Acheampong Fofana Chalobah. With Santos and Caicedo in the centre. Using Reece James as a wing back again (if possible) would be amazing. Palmer and Estevao behind the striker could cause so much chaos for the opposition defence.

I'm not saying they should be building around him though. What I am saying is he's been asked to play a role he cannot do/struggles with. I'm simply saying he should be dropped to bench if it's beneficial to the team. But why aren't managers seeing it? Why are they insistant on him being deployed in this role? And I'm sorry but Pedro? As in Joao Pedro? He had a fantastic start no doubt, but recently has looked like he can't even control a ball, barring the goal vs Newcastle. I've seen nothing from Joao Pedro as a 10 to say he'd be better, not sure about Estevao either, yeah he looks a good winger but needs time before we can say he would be a better 10.

I'm the other way around. I don't trust any of our current wingers to do enough in games. None of them (bar maybe Estevao) have shown game changing abilities. They all struggle to beat their man 1on1, crosses/cut backs are often wild/aimless. I honestly hope they can prove me wrong but none of Neto, Garnacho or Gittens look the real deal. Where I will agree with you is that 2 of them are very young and very raw so there is potential there. Neto on the other hand should be in his prime, it is unlikely he will get much better if at all. He deserves to be slightly more criticised than others as he is supposed to one of our more experienced players.

Actually makes me feel sick to even think about this. He's one of, if not out our best player, he's one of our own and I can easily see what you said happening. Hopefully the upstairs gang will give their heads a wobble and see sense when it comes to this.

Yeah that's absolutely fair, I think I mentioned in one of my other posts that we don't know who's picking the team behind the scenes and probably never will. What I will say again is I don't think he's the best player ever and is not undroppable but he does have some strengths he brings to the team and is being used unfairly as a scape goat. The bit about the hernia I'm sure is sarcasm as I'm sure I read at one point that he was playing with that going on? But again that just stinks of a managerial issue. And with all the recent stuff coming out about the medical team telling Maresca who he can and can't pick makes me unsure what to believe.

His situation is similar to Acheampong for me. They've played too inconsistently to really gain any momentum in the team. Both have showed quality and both have shown rustiness. They both need more minutes to progress and have a proper impact. But there is absolutely no doubt in my mind with the right playing playing time and good coaching both are destined for the top.
