November 22, 20241 yr Been linked to former Man City prospect, and current tractor boys lead forward, Liam Delap. Fits our strategy age wise and potential, and we do enjoy going for City players (Palmer), ex City players (Lavia, Sancho) and City targets (Cucurella). Probably a Joe Shields suggestion, so may well be some truth to this rumour.
November 22, 20241 yr They view Jackson as #1 unfortunately but I like Delap. A profile we need and offers something different.
November 22, 20241 yr If we're in the market for Man City cast-offs then we should look into signing Raheem Sterling. Or James Milner?
November 23, 20241 yr I quite like the look of this. Clearly got an eye for goal with his return for a very average Ipswich so far and young ex-City players (Palmer, Lavia, Sancho, Tosin (soon)) seem to do well here. Edited November 23, 20241 yr by Ukraine Bolt

Probably would have very good chemistry with Palmer as well, seeing as they scored 37 goals between them in PL2 in 20/21 (24 for Delap and 13 for Palmer). One guess who the City U21 manager was that season as well LOL
November 23, 20241 yr I like Delap so I wouldn't say no at the right price. We could even do a double deal and get his Dad Rory in as well, our corners aren't great so we might as well try long throws into the box.

Big lad like him would benefit from his dad's long throws too!

Arsenal, Liverpool and Aston Villa have produced the odd star here and there but the consistency is not the same, graduating from City or Chelsea almost guarantees you a career in the top three divisions in England. I wouldn't be surprised if Chelsea and City academy players make up 10% of the players used on any given EPL weekend. Edited November 24, 20241 yr by SydneyChelsea
November 25, 20241 yr I think he’s a very good player. He was excellent today against Utd. City have a buy back option on him for £20 million so we’d probably have to go north of £30 million to get him now and if he has a great season then double that in the summer. He looks the part though and will be cheaper wages wise than Gykores or Osimhen who I don’t believe would sign unless we qualify for the Champions League or in Osimhen’s case if we have him outside our wage structure. His stock is on the rise again and there will be clubs willing to pay higher wages than us. I’d be really surprised if we aren’t seriously considering Delap at the top of our wish list. Everything about him screams project Chelsea. Age, wages, ex City, already played with some of our squad and played and done well for the manager. Serious competition for Jackson if he comes in which can only be a good thing.
November 25, 20241 yr I fancy our chances if Delap has the decision to compete against Jackson or Haaland. 😂
December 1, 20241 yr Know nothing about him, don't watch Ipswich but the Delap name gives me PTSD from those long throws

In the last two weeks I have seen us linked with Liam Delap, Jeremy Frimpong and Jamie Bynoe-Gittens
December 1, 20241 yr I’ll take all the City academy rejects at this rate please. Edited December 1, 20241 yr by Sconnie Blue
December 1, 20241 yr I think the only strikers we should be looking at are established goalscorers like a gyokores, isak or Osimhen. Jackson has the position of promising young striker, no point in adding a striker that wouldn't improve us immediately

The other 2 I have no idea about, sry. It'd be a risk with no PL experience but other than that, complete unknowns to me, I've never seen them play.
December 2, 20241 yr Delap has impressed me when I have watched Ipswich. I think he could be a great signing for the future. Presumably he knows Cole well from his time at City too.

Would happily take Delap, though think City would be stupid not to use their 20mill buy back.

Look why Alvarez left in the first place. If Haaland is fit, he plays. Finding a striker who is willingly to sit bench 80% of the time is difficult.

Worst case they recall at 20mill and sell on for 40mill, and make a tidy profit.
