I reckon there are probably a few, maybe even some within the club, who look at Delap and think "he can be our Harry Kane".

Both big bullies but skilled a going to ground easy

Some of us look at Delap and think

“he’s gonna be our Andy Carroll”

Apparently he is open to join the team now, as always I will hype the new signing but still believe we should have signed Osimhen instead.

Watched the oligitory youtube highlights and was unimpressed. Poor touch, poor dribbling skills. Don't see what the fuss is about.

Given that CFC are far better than keeping the ball and creating better chances overall I would expect to see that Jackson has the better stats in certain areas...put Jackson in the Ipswich side and Delap in the CFC team and wonder what the stats would look like?

They're the same profile of player. What benefit do we get from this? We want options to change a game, not another like for like change.

I'm not against Delap long term FWIW, however we've spent 4 months moaning we need a serious striker to compete then people are campaigning for yet another project.

 I agree.

Personally i wouldn't be against Vlahovic. Its Serie A so, yeah. But he is a big, rangy, mobile forward with pace that links up play, has decent technical ability and scores goals. The historical questions around him was injuries but i don't think that this is that bad a record tbh, in the overall scheme of things nowadays.

What do you mean by "same profile of player".

I have only become aware of Delap this season and what he has done for Ipswich but he looks a totally different type of player to Jackson.

I think it is best for Delap to stay with the Tractor boys until the end - we can reevaluate everything then.

He strong and he's a smart player. Knows Cole Palmer well. I think he would be good. But he is a prospect. A Project.

As you say - IF we were looking now we need an accomplished player, good to go.

We have already a project, a potential talent, in Guiu. We don't need more projects, potential talents or future prospects, we need experienced, established players that get into the first 11 right now and improve us.

i mean he's the same profile of player.

They're both pretty bulky ball carriers with average shooting. Jackson is a better passer but in the grand scheme of things they're the same player.

Maybe you are right, but I don't see it that way.

They are both still young and relatively inexperienced but from what I've seen, Delap looks to have a lot more of what it takes to be a striker. Looks a lot stronger and able to hold defenders off more than Jackson. Just seems to have more of a "football brain" too and from what I've seen, doesn't stray offside as much.

I agree, he is far from the finished article and right now we really could do with a finished article rather than a prospect, but they are few & far between and would cost a sh*t load. For me Delap would be a definite improvement over Jackson, but I don't see Ipswich willing to sell until the summer at the earliest.

Each to their own. I think the Chelsea game has massively skewed a lot of opinions about him as he had the game of his life.

We are known to sign players that have a good game against us. It's called the Falcao syndrome.

Signed him 6 years too late. Vintage.
