Finding a striker who is willingly to sit bench 80% of the time is difficult. We could be in the very weird position of being a club young players come to because they will get game time.

City have a buy back option on him for £20 million so we’d probably have to go north of £30 million to get him now and if he has a great season then double that in the summer. He looks the part though and will be cheaper wages wise than Gykores or Osimhen who I don’t believe would sign unless we qualify for the Champions League or in Osimhen’s case if we have him outside our wage structure. His stock is on the rise again and there will be clubs willing to pay higher wages than us. I’d be really surprised if we aren’t seriously considering Delap at the top of our wish list. Everything about him screams project Chelsea. Age, wages, ex City, already played with some of our squad and played and done well for the manager. Serious competition for Jackson if he comes in which can only be a good thing. If Citeh have a buy back at 20 mill why dont we offer 21 million - we either force citeh to spend 20 million on him or we get him at a nice price - they have no use for him Edited December 15, 20241 yr by OneTommyLangley
December 16, 20241 yr If we get through this festive period in touching distance of the Scouse I’d happily see the ownership go all in on Delap & Guehi in January, really feel they’d both add that extra something we need.
December 18, 20241 yr I don't really know enough about him, but gives me Evan Ferguson vibes (hype, not top level) more than Cole Palmer (we were all off there though). Am sure I'll be sold after a YouTube video! Edited December 18, 20241 yr by PhilH930

December 27, 20241 yr No thanks, we don't need another 'project' player like Jackson, we need someone who's ready now.

He's a bruiser, plays the game at full speed from first minute to last, but his touch play isn't exactly anything to be impressed by, he just bullies his way through teams. How is this type of striker going to work in a Maresca team that demands close control of the ball and passing through the lines? We won't even be able to make the most of his good attributes because we won't see any of it.
December 30, 20241 yr I’m really impressed with him, the way he can carry the ball forward and still manage to strike a few really good shots on target. You may say our defenders don’t defend but they’re very capable of stopping an attacker but they simply couldn’t find the time to tackle Delap because of the way he carries the ball. I think he would be a really good fit for our team actually. If he’s available for under 50m in January we should be all over it.

December 30, 20241 yr Bluff and bluster - ideal for beating an out of sorts team but will never be elite level, great workrate but in truth championship quality. File under : Caveman. Location : Strasbourg Edited December 30, 20241 yr by OneTommyLangley

He also hits the target with his shots more often than not. He certainly did tonight when our attackers couldn’t score in a brothel.
December 30, 20241 yr Looked like an absolute upgrade on anything we currently have in the squad. Looks a much more complete player than the dross of Osimhen or that PSG bloke. Sign him up!
December 31, 20241 yr Author Against our defence Jackson likely looks like Drogba, that's probably where that comparison comes from, in training.
December 31, 20241 yr Get him in. No more system strikers for now. We need to get good players in then fit the system around them
