  1. Strange one alright , especially with Werner left on the bench. I wonder was Tuchel trying to emphasise a point that he’s been left with too much dead wood.
  2. That’s a fair point, however I still think the vast majority of the Chelsea squad is better suited to the 5 at the back, and I’ve yet to see anything near enough from Havertz which warrants a complete overhaul to a system which may or may not bring the best out of him.
  3. Not sure about that. Was a 4-2-3-1 / 4-3-3 not the preferred formation under Lampard ? If anything I thought he looked worse playing in that system. Werner and Mount also looked lost on the wings under Frank and have looked infinitely better in this formation under Tuchel, so I don’t think changing the formation is the solution.
  4. He shouldn’t be starting at the moment, I’m not really sure how he managed to stay on the pitch for the full 90 mins last night either. He had an excellent CL final and a handful of other good performances but in the main I’m nearly always underwhelmed watching him play.
  5. He looked tired last night and against City. I think a large part of the bluntness going forward in the last few games is due to the wing backs not really doing their thing. I didn’t think Chillwell was much of an improvement last night but he’s probably due a game at the weekend due to Alonso’s form.
  6. Not getting anything going forward from the wing backs the last few games which is an issue. I’d consider a change there at half time. Defence has been solid enough but kovacic and Jorginho have had a few ropey moments putting them under pressure. Havertz has had a woeful half wouldn’t be surprised to see him subbed.
  7. Entertaining game in the 2nd half. A lot of decent performances with Loftus Cheek probably the best. Good to see Kepa looking assured and playing with confidence as well. I feel as if CHO is quickly running out of chances however. I could see him being sent out on loan in January unless there’s a big turnaround in form.
  8. I’m still not convinced Havertz should be a guaranteed starter. He floats in and out of games a bit too much for my liking. He’s probably deservedly starting at the moment but I don’t think it’s cut and dry that he starts ahead of Werner/Pulisic/Ziyech every game.
  9. This is always a match I look forward to and one I’m desperate for Chelsea not to lose. I think Werner should come in for Havertz, as I remember his pace causing them a lot of problems last season. A win would probably make us favourites for the title, but I’d be relatively happy with a draw here.
  10. Should win this but Arsenal have become a bit of a bogey side in recent times. I wouldn’t be surprised if we saw a response from Arsenal after Friday night and for Chelsea to drop points here.
  11. Any word on when he’s out of quarantine ? Having watched arsenals centre halves tonight, I think he’d get a lot of joy out of them.
  12. Chalobah by a distance for me. Kante and Alonso both had mostly good games but had some poor moments aswell. Ziyech was excellent but got injured too early to be consider for motm.
  13. I think Werner was an effective player this season and some of the criticism he gets (bar his finishing) is over the top. However, he undoubtedly had a very poor FA cup final and a mediocre CL final. I don’t think we can give him too much credit for doing his job as a striker which is making runs. That’s reminds me of the excuses we’d hear about Torres when he’d go on his regular 10+ game goal droughts.
  14. James may have been dropped or rotated or whatever you want to call it but he still started and played the full 90 minutes in the two finals. That shows me that Tuchel rates him quite highly. Not sure how you’ve come to that conclusion on Gilmour to be honest. He’s clearly highly rated at the club and bear in mind that in addition to the players Lampard brought through after successful loan spells, that Christensen and Loftus-Cheek got their break into the first team from “foreign” managers after loan spells. CHO is a strange one and I wouldn’t be giving up on him yet but Tuchel is now the 3rd manager in a row who has used him sparingly which is quite telling IMO. As for Abraham, I agree he’s a good 2nd choice striker, however I don’t think he’s happy to sit on the bench. I think the club want to use the money for him on a top class striker like Haaland and then use Werner or Havertz as a striker or false 9 if needs be.
  15. Gilmour has gone on loan to gain experience just like all the other successful academy players before him who played in the CL final (Mount,James, Christensen). So I’d hardly count him in the discussion. I wouldn’t agree that they’re actively looking to replace James either. You need multiple quality players in each position to compete at the top level. If this wasn’t the case then you could say that Chelsea signed replacements for Mount in Havertz and Ziyech last year. James has already shown himself to be very effective as Rb/Rwb and I thought he looked good as a RCB in a back 5 also, so I’d be very surprised if he doesn’t see 25+ starts in the league next year even with a new RWB signed. CHO has been consistently linked with a move away for about 3 years now so it’s hard to say whether there’s much substance to him moving. I’d agree Abraham is likely to leave which is unfortunate but if Chelsea can get around 40 million for a back up striker then it makes sense. Likewise for Guehi , who I’ve seen very little of, it seems like a good deal in which we can buy back if necessary.
  16. I wouldn’t say that considering 2 of the players promoted by Lampard just started in a Chanpions league final winning team, with a number of others part of the squad.
  17. 2 pre season games are against Spurs and Arsenal in early August before playing Villareal in the super cup a few days before the league starts. Personally not worried about the short pre season seeing as everyone else will be in the same boat. If anything I’d say Chelsea are at an advantage by getting a competitive game in against Villareal ahead of the league season.
  18. Euros champion and CL winner in the space of about 6 weeks. Absolutely baffling how certain segments of Chelsea fans don’t rate him still. His lack of athletic prowess makes him just short of being one of the elite midfielders in world football but he’s just below that level in my opinion. He should be right in the prime of his career and I’m hoping to see a few more successful years in a Chelsea shirt.
  19. A good signing overall and now a good move for him and probably the right time for all parties to move on. He was an underwhelming signing at the time , albeit a massive upgrade on Ashley Barnes and Crouch who were also being linked. He was instrumental in getting a top 4 finish under Lampard and obviously his performance vs Arsenal in the Europa final and goal vs Atletico won’t be forgotten about any time soon.
  20. Havertz for me closely followed by Kante and James.
  21. Thought he had a decent game alright and was fair for both sides . For once I felt the marginal call went our way with the potential Reece James handball in the 2nd half.
  22. Top class last night. I always thought he was a decent player but maybe a bit soft and lacking aggression to make it at this level. I was definitely wrong about him and I hope this can push him on to have a great career at Chelsea.
  23. Hopefully the board of directors and Tuchel don’t fall out over the next 12-18 months. I really think we have one of the best managers In World football here.
  24. I should be ashamed that I thought selling him last summer may have been a good idea. What a phenomenal player.
  25. I’ve hardly slept all night , what a performance from the whole team. It’s vindication for a lot of players who I deemed not good enough such as Rudiger and Christensen and I’ve never been so happy to be proved wrong.
