Visiting Fox got a reaction from Amputechture in Enzo Maresca - Chelsea "Head Coach" *Official NOW SACKED*Exactly this .....
There were mixed feelings on Maresca's tactics at Leicester. We all knew what he was trying to do, the players bought into it and it worked most of the time. However, because some of our players weren't good enough to play like that against the better teams, on occasion it led to too much tippy tappy football in defence with mistakes leading to goals against, together with very slow tedious build up in attack leading to nothing. It felt like there wasn't a plan B to change things mid game but TBF it was probably due to not having the right players to bring on. We definitely need a rebuild.
From what I've seen of your games it looks like he does have tactical flexibility now he has a wealth of players to choose from.
Yep, he got us up which was what mattered but wouldn't have been able to strengthen the team sufficiently to make it work for us in the Prem. Good luck to him though, it looks like he is going to be a top manager.
With regards to KDH, he was born and bred in Leicestershire, about 3 miles from where I grew up. He came through our academy and is a Fox through and through really, I think he would have been happy to stay with us but the Financial Unfair Play rules mean that smaller clubs like us have to sell our best home grown talent to balance the books. He may not have the silky skills of some of your other options but he will always put a shift in and will always give 100%. I'm sure he'll develop with better players around him and will do a good job for you, probably mostly in your games in Europe where you need a battler in midfield. Look after him please, all true Foxes will wish him well on his big break, just like we always respected the amazing Kante who worked his socks off for us right to the end (and unlike Fofana who pretty much downed tools to force his move through - no respect due there I'm afraid)
Many of us have concerns about Nistelroy with his lack of Prem in management experience but it isn't working out too shoddy for Maresca and at least he has something to prove & should command respect with players and fans. Unlike Cooper who I do feel a bit sorry for but was always going to have a struggle to convince a big part of our fan base due to his Forest connections (something that didn't really bother those of us who can remember the success we had with Martin O'Neill and Captain Morgan, both ex Forest).
Good luck in your quest for top 4, looking good so far. Look after our KDH 👍

With perfect hindsight I do wonder if Maresca had 1 eye on promotion and surviving the EPL. The best performing promoted sides are all very capable of playing out of the back and I wonder if Maresca realised he needed to impress that on the squad given Leicester's likely promotion.

Brentford away was a tough start for the new manager. But I think he will do OK. He did a decent job at PSV before moving to the Man United coaching team.

Visiting Fox got a reaction from NestorGarde in Enzo Maresca - Chelsea "Head Coach" *Official NOW SACKED*LOL .....Looks like it's all coming up roses for you guys so far eh?? We did say he'd probably come good with a bit more money and talent at his disposal than we could afford.
He got us back up so no hard feelings on our part, we are accustomed to being used as a stepping stone so we knew he would be off at some point.
Not so rosy for us, not been in the bottom 3 yet but major improvement needed and gonna be a struggle to stay up. Defence is woeful.
We'll see what Van Man can do 🤞

That never made sense to me either..who says no to help from a specialist to relieve pressure. It came across as insecurity but I have no idea what the real reason for saying no was.
I agree bud, i think it's a bit of both.
Yes he may have been rigid with your lot but I sort of understand why, as you mention above its the quality of players he had at his disposal.
I actually like him even more now because of all that, let's be honest, if kdh was the best in your squad last season then I think Maresca did absolutely brilliantly last season. I don't mean any disrespect whatsoever mate.
He knew he had to be pragmatic to get you guys over the line. He used all the tools he could in the best way he could and hit his target.
He now has a whole bunch of really talented and versatile kids to use and we can see him open up with new ideas and tactics. I can also imagine if we lose half our squad he may park the bus in every game just to hit the target of top 4-5. (If that is his target).
I know I'm a minority in that regard, even during Jose's period of lots of 1-0s, it seemed I was one of the very few that was happy as long as we were climbing the table.
I'm not a fan of the Van Man, sry, you're on your own there mate. 😆 Good luck.

Visiting Fox reacted to petre ispirescu in Enzo Maresca - Chelsea "Head Coach" *Official NOW SACKED*Two main things fans must understand once and forever:
1 - Never trust pre season results. Pre season is all about fitness and pleasing sponsors and fans from other continents.
2 - Never trust opposing fans bashing their ex players/managers when they leave on a high. Leicester fans sold us this version of Maresca that looked like the worst, most stubborn manager in the league that should have been shot in the head by the Chelsea fans to save the club and undo the supposed mistake that the board has done by appointing him.
-
Tbh, I agree with @Bob stark here. Leicester had players on the bench, who have spent most of their careers in the top flight. Coady could not get in that Leicester team and he used to be Wolves captain not too long ago whilst they were in the PL. Daka, was often on the bench and I don't think most people envisaged him playing in the Championship. Iheanacho, was often a sub and he is defo a PL tier player and recently moved to Sevilla, however he spent last season in and out of the team like Daka who are prem level players, even if they are not necessarily consistent scorers. They defo both are way too good for the Championship. I know Justin had that ACL, but again he was often a sub and can also be considered a PL level player. Praet, I get it has not really hit it off in England but he has spent most of his career in the top flight. He barely got a start but he still was a sub most games and is betetr than most players, you would say in the Championship.
You mentioned that 12 players from the squad was lost before a ball was kicked but they were adequately replaced. Mavididi replaced Barnes which was a real coup to get him considering you were in the Championship. Fatawu who looks a real talent was brought in on loan too. The one major loss which was hard to replace was Maddison, however KDH did a good job stepping up but even getting in Winks to replace Tielemans was a massive coup. Winks going to the Championship surprised a lot of people. So for me, the players sold were reasonably replaced and there was good options on the bench. For eg, you compare when Burnley was promoted, most of their players on the bench were virtually known and were rookies from what I remember. Burnley would never have been able to afford some of the players Leicester bought whilse they were in the Championship.
-
It is strange that any fox fans can complain about their team.
What kind of championship team can have
Kdh-winks-ndidi
As their starting midfield.
I am actually more curious what happen to your team 2 seasons ago? No way your team should be relegated.

Visiting Fox got a reaction from just in Enzo Maresca - Chelsea "Head Coach" *Official NOW SACKED*IMHO Bob is speaking alot more sense than this guy who is either a very hyper negative fox or just one of the sad trolls from our forum looking for attention. No true Fox would diss Albrighton who's been amazing for us. Yes we are fearing the worse in an immediate return downstairs but most Foxes fans I know are upbeat about the coming season. It will be tough but we still have that fighting spirit and togetherness that got us that unbelievable title win, albeit fading into history now.
We still need a few additions and we won't fighting for Europe just yet but we will stay up.
Mixed feelings Maresca, he got the team working well to his system but the lack of flexibility to change things when teams found us out nearly lost us promotion. But, obviously talented as a coach and, with more funds at his disposal at your place he may well shine.
Be an interesting season for both of us.
-
My concern is that with all due respect the forwards in the Championship are just not as clinical as the Premier league so even during that good first half of the season you might not have got punished for mistakes at the back. With some of the defenders we have I can see us not even getting a decent head of steam up.
-

Yep, +2
Definitely seen this in preseason too. To counter we need a really good defence which we definitely don't have. As someone has said already though...we could pile up the 97,578,396 goalkeepers we have on the books ontop of each other in goal?
I just can't get that black adder sketch out of my head.
