Mikel was shoehorned into the DM position as soon as he got here and years later is only starting to look half decent, Luis has only played there a few times and not looked too out of place, forget Luis bombing forward from CB which was a reason some cited for Luis to remain a CB, Jose won't allow it. It seems obvious to me that we're missing a tough tackling DM, Luis also has the skill and confidence on the ball to be immense in that position.

Name one, any one, this DM pivot where one holds while one goes forward is our weakest area by far. Luiz has the ideal skillset for that position, all he needs is a bit more discipline and time to make the position his own. ATM, Ivan, Cahill and JT seem more likely to start, and Luiz is too good for the bench.

Bring back Cahill and move Luis into DM, keep the German on the wing and stick Sammy up front, nil desperandum!

Agreed, though it should have happened sooner, after the last world cup debacle they should have dropped everyone over 25 and replaced through the U21s, how can you build for the future with over 30s! The way England play hacks me off as well, how do you pull someone out of the blood and thunder Premiership and expect them to play like Italy when they pull on an England shirt? And lastly how can footballers paid 100k + per week play with such an abject level of skill and craft, absolutely bloody disgraceful.

Watched the game with my son and we both thought Schurle did well considering, quick, always looking for the ball, chased back and tackled well especially in the first half when it seemed he was everywhere. Defence definitely streets ahead of last season a good solid display but voted for young Schurle, if that makes me a cock so be it.
