Fabregas and Pedro are close calls but I go for Cahill, not to be different but for the challenges he put in, getting knocked about all over the place and carrying on, and a goal to put the icing on the cake!

I think whoever gets the job needs to get some leaders in the team, thin on the ground at the moment and if JT takes more of a backroom role who is there?

First game me and the boy have been to for a while and we picked a cracker! I seriously didn't know Pedro had that in him, the whole team played well and the first 20 mins was electric!

Nice bloke but I've never been a great fan of Mikel as most of my posts about him testify, but I have to admit the last couple of games he has looked half decent.

Well we'll have to agree to disagree, a DM should at the very least be able to tackle, which is something Mikel has never had in his locker, I've lost count of how many opposition attacks I've seen where just out of shot you can see Mikel ambling back, so his positioning isn't too hot either. However, if a good DM's job is to break up attacks by giving away freekicks around the edge of the penalty area then fair dos.

Not really! Mikel as a DM is one long running failed experiment, if he played in his natural position then who knows...

You may be right but why? Cahill is a rangey, athletic player, can tackle, good in the air and comfortable on the ball, obviously defensive but given freedom not bad going forward. Given the alternatives of Mikel, Ramires and even Matic I don't think it's a bad call.

Call me crazy but I wouldn't mind seeing if Cahill could adapt to the DM position.

No, obviously you want your team to do well but the signs were there in the the throes of last season, maybe you forget the stonkin start we had, which basically won us the league,coz the last few games were not so memororable.

Could you not see this coming from the end of last season? Ivan was arse most of last season along with Ramires and Mikel, JT was looking his age and Cesc and Oscar were blowing hot and cold too. Regardless of how much the squad costs even a fool could see reinforcements were required desperately.
