Couldn't find a thread dedicated to him so hefe it is.

What do you guys think of the boy? Does he have a chance of playing with us this season or is he loaned out. He scored 17 goals for Vitesse last season and was impressive there overall.

He does. Very talented player and I hope Jose will give him games in a cup games. I don't think he will be in the starting line in his first season, but he has the potential to be there next season if he will prove himself this year.

Tbh with the fact we have Willian, Cuadrado, Moses and now Kenedy that play in his favoured position, also with the likes of Ramires and Oscar who can also play there, I don't think there will be much game time for him.
Personally I believe one of Moses, Kenedy or Traore will have to go on loan, hopefully to a BPL side, if we aren't selling Cuadrado.

Having said that I would like to see him play as he seems like a real talent and I also know he can play as a striker so it might be useful to have him around as the 4th option. Also if he is happy playing for the U21 whilst training and developing with the first team than I don't see any harm keeping him here and maybe he can shine in a few of the opportunities he gets given and force his way into contention.

I was sure he'd stick around but since it's been reported that Kenedy now has a work permit, I don't think there's room for both. And they play in the same position. It will be a toss-up.

Traore is far off realistically challenging for a spot though. There's a big difference between being given a free role as no.9 for Vitesse and playing in the midfield for a top tier club. He has been tactically naive, some poor decision-making etc. But there is certainly a lot of great stuff to work with. It would be great if he could stay.

Big fan of what I see here. Reminds me of another former forward who played in Holland minus the biting.

Good nose for goal. Cool finishing. Likes to move around to the right or left. Closes defenders down.

I am a big fan of him and genuinely think he'll be one of the best players we've had. He is technically very good and he has that instinct and drive to score goals that cannot be taught. I really hope he gets a chance as I think he'll become one of the best in the world in a few years.

Looks to able to finsih off both sides which is good. Plenty of talent and ability though still needs to improve both tactically and technically. Hopefully trainign with us dya in day out will help do so. Playing at LB is certainly not the answer, as we say in Pre-Season. I would suggest he works hard at playing RW, as at the moment we do not have a definate starter there. Can see he likes to cut inside so will suit.

Probably a bit early to say he'll become one of the best in the world but heres hoping!

Maybe he had him playing left back to improve his defensive abilities. So he can learn what it means to track back.

Yep, will always help learn when playing other positions.

Not sure about the tracking back though, as the game is generally in front of you at LB. Strange thing is, on that night, he was strong in the tackle etc. And lacked quality in final 3rd. Would expect it to be the other way around.

I just like the fact that he shoots. We don't have enough of that going on in our team at the minute.

That left foot is as sweet as a nut on the right wing, reminds me of Bale when he cuts back off the wing and runs in front of the defence to open up his left foot and shoot. He's always looking for space behind as well, which is something we only get from Hazard atm.

What is there not to like ?

Indeed! What a cool finisher.

He's still just 19 years old, and he clearly has fantastic potential. Very exciting. But we'll probably need to find another good loan move for him this season to continue his progression. I can't see him getting the game time at Chelsea yet. I would love to see him get a loan spot in a Premier League side: somewhere like Bournemouth perhaps?

Well full backs do make a lot of runs forward so there would be some tracking back.

From those highlights, it looks like he has a great finishing touch.  How many of those goals are one touch shots?  I like it.  Speaks well of his shooting technique.

Got a feeling that Jose doesn't really rate him. He's not on the bench today, Kenedy took his place. Maybe we should start thinking about a proper loan for him? In my opinion it's wrong to put Falcao or Kenedy above him.

I can understand the frustration given his performance last season but playing for Chelsea is a big step up. Jose gets to compare the two of them (Kenedy and Traore) on a daily basis. You have to trust that he knows what is best despite your misgivings.

can we really, truly trust jose's judgement though? especially considering he continues to play ivanovic  :laugh2: he's never really been known as having an expert eye for young talent.

I think Jose has said his best position is ST. Kind hard to start him over Costa isnt it

Quote?

Traore last year had a free role upfront with very little defensive responsibility. It's a big step up now for the boy and only the training staff will know how close he is to realistically challenging.
