The only sense I can see in it is that his arrival would free up Mikel to play a more attacking role, which is good because I don't think Mikel will ever be suited to the DM position, and bad(for Mikel) because I can't see any other position in midfield he would be first choice for.

We just about deserved the win,I'm not convinced by some of the team choices but let's not forget this is the start of the season with a new manager and things will improve no doubt. Watched the game on telly unfortunately, what was the atmosphere like for those who went?
