Don't agree I'm afraid, the FA Cup has to be a standalone game not just trotted out like any other Saturday fixture, Wembley has the name, aura (and kind of history), but the Millenium stadium wasn't too shabby either, decent ground, better ticket allocation for fans IIRC just the location lets it down a bit.

I don't think a poor run of form is the reason behind this post, I think the poster has probably experienced worse dips in form than this by far and following a club is a lot more than winning trophies.

A good post which got me thinking, I don't reckon an AFC Chelsea would give you the "turn the clock back" satisfaction you're after though, what Butch mentioned has more merit IMO, groups of like minded people who band together to improve the atmosphere of the Shed for example, if I remember correctly the club were giving members of the Shed 50 priority to buy tickets for the same area, which is a small thing possibly but shows if the voice is big enough changes can be made.

The problem Chelsea's got is, once you've reached the top how do you stay there? Fergie's got this one sorted, never buys in a glut of players just one or two to slot in as one of the regulars come to the end, Our team has for the most part grown old together ie JT, Lamps, Drogs, Ferreira, Annelka and that's just after sacking Ballack, Deco and Belleti. So we're now at the point where the players who were the spine of the team are less and less able to put in the top performances the we're used to, some of the players we've got have never been consistently good enough, squad players at best and we know who they are, so what's the answer? another Mourinho type era wher we buy another team to last 5/6 years or what we seem to be doing now by replacing 1 or 2 players with quality younger players while at the same time nurturing the youth? This is a relatively new problem for Chelsea FC as we've been at the top for only a short while compared to United, but I hope it's resolved soon.

MOTM - Luis, what a player! The fact that he's only been in the country 5 mins and has settled seamlessly into the Prem Champions team speaks volumes, very unlucky with the penalty. Fulham were never going to be a pushover and I can't see why anyone thought beating Fulham at the Cottage was a given, to our defence they firmly parked the bus in the second half and we also had a better penalty shout turned down. where we struggle against teams like this is in the lack of any true wingers, players who can beat a defender and put in decent crosses from the by-line, Cole and Ivanovic get forward down the wings but they're not wingers.
